WARWICK
Race 1 No1 SPIRITS BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
SPIRITS BAY is a five times hurdling winner making his debut over fences in a race that’s cut up in his favour. He was strong in the market when taking out a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle on his return to action at Newton Abbot and has been made fitter for the outing, whilst he’s schooled well over practice fences at Grange Farm.
Race 4 No7 MAVIS PIKE
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
MAVIS PIKE looked the probable winner until falling on her second chasing start at Fakenham. The mare had jumped well to that point, and having schooled proficiently since the race is fancied to put six male opponents to the sword.
FFOS LAS
Race 2 No2 SHOT BOII (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Ryan Corcoran
Sound jumping is the main asset of SHOT BOII, who should go well on his seasonal reappearance, having regularly troubled the judge without winn8ng in seven outings last season. He’s a strong stayer who loves testing conditions, and looks to have everything to suit here.
Race 4 No7 GLENGOLLY
Trainer: Billy Sprahamian – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
GLENGOLLY is a 13 race maiden who interestingly returns from surgery to correct a breathing ailment. While he can have his off days, he’s definitely well treated, and in the circumstances this could be time to catch him.
Race 5 No7 JAUNTY VIKING (Each Way)
Trainer: Brian Eckley – Jockey: Miss Thomasina Eys
JAUNTY VIKING has run well to a point on both starts over fences. He needed his first outing when pulled up at Stratford, but was in contention for a lot longer at this course whilst finding the three miles beyond his stamina limits. Back in trip today, he could get into the shake up at a massive price.
HEXHAM
Race 3 No5 YOUNG JACK (Nap)
Trainer: Chris Grant – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
One that can benefit from a switch to fences is YOUNG JACK. He was a dual scorer over hurdles, and while well beaten on his latest outing at Kelso in March he’s going to be a player in this beginners’ chase if taking to the track.
Race 6 No4 NO WALKOVER
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor
This is the most interesting race on the card, with NO WALKOVER taken to justify with a debut success the long journey from Somerset. He was narrowly denied in a maiden point and can parry the challenge of TRIGG, who despite proving easy to back scored in decisive fashion in a Worcester bumper for Dan Skelton.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No1 BRIDGE OF EAGLES
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Toby Moore
Gleneagles colt BRIDGE OF EAGLES is perfectly drawn against the rail for this third career start. The money that came for him at Nottingham last month went west, but he’s worked well on an all-weather surface at home, and will be more streetwise.
Race 9 No12 HINCHINBROOKE (Nap)
Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam – Jockey: Kevin Stott
HINCHINBROOKE ran better when dropped in grade at Yarmouth and now back on Polytrack needs taking seriously in this Class 4 in which he can post a first career win. It would be a deserving one, as he’s troubled the judge in all but one of his eight outings, including on debut in the Wood Ditton Stakes at Newmarket.
