NEWTON ABBOT

Race 1 No2 GENTLEMAN TOBOOT
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor

GENTLEMAN TOBOOT returns from an enforced absence but looks an appealing candidate for this novices’ hurdle. The gelded son of Derby winner Harzand won a point and a bumper before putting in an encouraging display when second in a better race than this at Chepstow. That was back n January, but Pipe will have him primed for this reappearance.

Race 2 No1 SPIRITS BAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Toby McCain-Mitchell

McCain-Mitchell is a bright prospect and on SPIRITS BAY can again advertise his talents in the saddle. His mount went through the 2024/25 season without a win in five attempts, but remains better than he showed, and a horse that can make up for lost time in the current campaign.

Race 4 No4 KAYF DANCER (Nap)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Callum Pritchard

The best bet n this card is KAYF DANCER who was matched against some useful foes when last seen, including The New Lion to whom he finished third at Chepstow. The Nap then scored easily at Exeter, and though off since March has been giving off some good signals at home.

FAKENHAM

Race 6 No3 MAVIS PIKE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

MAVIS PIKE travelled and jumped well for a long way before lack f condition took its toll on her on chase debut at Uttoxeter. She was weak in the market on that occasion, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see support for her on a card where she was a winner 12 months ago.

NOTTINGHAM

Race 4 No3 EBT’S GUARD (Nap)
Trainer: Willie Muir – Jockey: Lewis Edmunds

EBT’S GUARD rarely puts in a bad one and there was much to like about his neck defeat against Crown Of Oaks in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot n Champions’ Day. He needs just a little progression to take this, which he can do at the expense of ICE MAX and PRAGUE.

Race 6 No7 LIGHTNING TIGER
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Ray Dawson

Waldgeist gelding LIGHTNING TIGER takes my eye as the least exposed runner in this. He showed how much cut in the ground is important to him when opening his account at Catterick where he was in full command at the finish. He’s getting a fair amount of weight from paper favourite DANCINGWITHMYSELF over whom he can have the edge.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No7 CHAPMAN’S PEAK (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Dunlop – Jockey: Rab Havlin

Named after one of the most stunning coastal drives in South Africa, CHAPMAN’S PEAK brings course winning form to the table and from a plum draw can back up the success under a 4lb penalty. The Showcasing gelding should have more to offer as the best bet on this card.

Race 2 No9 TOO HOT TO TANGO
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

LOVING QUEEN is one that could improve from her first run and merits a market check, however TOO HOT TO TANGO may prove the better route to goal. She upped her game with a narrow defeat at Salisbury over this 1400 metre trip. The Too Darn Hot filly will require more of a test going forward, but she’s in good order and has the pick of the draw in gate 3.

Race 4 No10 TAMZAN
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Sean Levey

Another well drawn advice is Time Test filly TAMZAN who has troubled the judge in all three starts in 2025. She finished off her race strongly at Leicester, and can prove equally as effective as long as this is run at a decent pace.
