YARMOUTH
Race 2 No8 MUSIC ACADEMY (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
On breeding MUSIC ACADEMY looks the part, and the Kingman filly can cut a dash against the more experienced OTTOMAN EMPRESS. I will be surprised if she doesn’t prove strong in the betting.
Race 6 No7 HINCHINBROOKE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
HINCHINBROOKE skipped an opportunity earlier in the month but remains of interest as a horse that can do well in the closing weeks of the season. Since being placed on debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket he hasn’t always enjoyed the rub of the green, and after making the frame in a competitive heat at Kempton last time he should prosper from this return to grass.
EXETER
Race 6 No2 UGO BINGO (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Mr Richard Upton
As a new addition to this stable UGO BINGO troubled the judge in both outings in the spring. The Tizzards have now had more time to get to know the dual hurdling scorer, who’s been found a race that shouldn’t take much winning.
Race 7 No2 DAKOTA STAR
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Ben Jones
DAKOTA STAR has shown promise doing interval training at home ahead of this three-year-old junior bumper in which he’s preferred to a similarly likeable stablemate in MAXIOS AURELIUS.
PERTH
Race 4 No2 KINGSTON PRIDE (Nap)
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen
This is a new ball game for dual hurdles scorer and bumper winner KINGSTON PRIDE who is carded to start the outsider of three but is more than capable of taking the spoils. He’s schooled well for his new handler, and has always promised to find his forte over fences. The grey was sent off at odds-on for each of his successes for his previous trainer.
Race 7 No2 SAUCE OF LIFE
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
SAUCE OF LIFE is not a regular visitor to the track but his record of three successes in eight starts portrays a horse with plenty of ability. Though disappointing on his latest outing at Kelso, he has enjoyed his summer at grass and can make this a winning return.
NEWCASTLE
Race 2 No3 MOONLIGHT WARRIOR (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding- Jockey: PJ McDonald
MOONLIGHT WARRIOR has my full attention following his encouraging first run at Newmarket where he ran green when seeing daylight, and would have finished closer but for meeting interference running into the dip. He’s up against a more experienced foe in Beny Nahar, but is capable of improving past him.
Race 5 No5 TERRAPIN
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald
Kameko colt TERRAPIN has excelled on his two visits to Gosforth Park with a second as a 40-1 no hoper in a novice followed by outright success on handicap debut. He’s in a better race today, but on just a fifth career start has scope for progression, and he can follow-up.
Race 7 No4 RAFT UP
Trainer: Harriet Bethell – Jockey: Cam Hardie
RAFT UP has carded all three of his successes since joining Bethell at this course. The Dandy Man gelding was coming off a three month break when returning to the AW to narrowly fail against Raatea here last week, and has strong claims to build on it and go one better.
