British No. 1 and former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has decided to end her 2025 tennis season as she has withdrawn from the two final tournaments of the year.
Putting her health first, the 22-year-old retired from her match last week against Anni Li in the Wuhan Open, she experienced dizziness due to weather high temperature conditions. She received medical assistance and had her blood pressure taken.
Raducanu thought she was fit enough for the Ningbo Open, but things got worse with her receiving medical timeout twice against Zhu Lin due to her experiencing pain on her lower back and ended up losing the match.
She has since flown home to recover and begin preparations for the 2026 season under her newly appointed coach, Francisco Roig.
Earlier in the year, Raducanu had faced challenges in finding a permanent coach, which led her to work with several different individuals in search of someone who aligned with her playing style and long-term goals. Her aim was to find a coach capable of guiding her back into the top rankings and helping her win major titles.
She worked with Mark Petchey, who brought valuable insight and experience. However, their partnership came to an end due to his commitments as a full-time commentator, which prevented him from dedicating the time required for a full coaching role.
In August 2025, Raducanu announced the hiring of Francisco Roig, a respected coach who previously worked with tennis legend Rafael Nadal for over 15 years.
Ranked No.29 in the world, Raducanu worked extremely hard on court winning 28 matches this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington but the tournament that she dominated in the most was the Miam Open in March.
