NEWMARKET
Race 1 NEWMARKET ACADEMY GODOLPHIN BEACON PROJECT CORNWALLIS STAKES (Group 3)
No1 REVIVAL POWER
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
Penalised REVIVAL POWER has to give away weight in a strong renewal of this opener to a fascinating card. Her Group 2 triumph at Doncaster was gained in decisive fashion, and although this is a stiffer track she is a naturally mega quick filly who can complete a fine hat-trick.
Race 2 GODOLPHIN LIFETIME CARE OH SO SHARP STAKES (Group 3)
No7 MUBASIMAH
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Frankel filly MUBASIMAH made a telling impression when scoring on her debut over the course and distance two weeks ago. She holds scope for any amount of improvement and is fancied to remain 7nbeaten at the main expense of CALENDAR GIRL and BLINGY’S SISTER.
Race 3 THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY EMPLOYEE AWARDS CHALLENGE STAKES (Group 2)
No4 COSMIC YEAR
Trainer: Harry Charlton – Jockey: Colin Keane
Irish Guineas runner-up COSMIC YEAR is back on a playing field on which he can put his best foot forward. One of his successes came in a Listed race over this historic terrain, while he’s benefitted from a short break since his last race over a mile on soft ground. The return to 1400 metres on a faster surface will do him no harm.
Race 4 BET365 FILLIES’ MILE (Group 1)
No8 PRECISE (Nap)
Trainer: Aidan O’Brien – Jockey: Christophe Soumillon
PRECISE notched a Group 1 triumph in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh to follow-up her Prestige Stakes win at Goodwood which makes her a worthy favourite for this 1,000 Guineas trial. The chestnut is bred to appreciate the step up to a mile, and with a fourth success on the bounce can emerge as clear favourite for that Classic. DANCE TO THE MUSIC is on a recovery mission after losing her unbeaten record in a Grade 1 at Woodbine, but has scored at Group 3 level prior to that and will be dangerous if bouncing back.
Race 5 No1 DAIQUIRI BAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: James Doyle
DAIQUIRI BAY has been done few favours by the handicapper after running well in similar races at several of the marquee meetings. He would however be a deserving winner of this, and can put his best foot forward to repel the challenges of MUNSIF and RESPOND.
Race 7 NEWMARKET PONY ACADEMY PRIDE STAKES (Group 3)
No8 SAND GAZELLE
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
SAND GAZELLE has raised her game to post success in a York Listed race and finish runner-up in a Group 3 at the Curragh. Murphy is an interesting booking for the Frankel filly who looks more than capable of progressing again.
YORK
Race 1 No5 NORTHERN EXPRESS (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan
NORTHERN EXPRESS has inched down the weights and now faces what looks his most straightforward task for some time. The chestnut ran well at the big meeting here in August and troubled the judge in softer conditions at the Ayr Western meeting. In an open race he can have the measure of WHIP CRACKER and BOPEDRO.
Race 3 No4 HORNSEA BAY
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
HORNSEA BAY shaped like a horse getting ready to win when third at Ayr. He attracted plenty of support for that Class2, but after travelling well couldn’t quite muster the finish to get the job done. It could be a different story today, as this has cut up in his favour.
Race 5 No7 HANNEY GIRL (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman
HANNEY GIRL upped her game to finish just out of the money in a Listed race at Ayr to make her a dangerous proposition now returned to a handicap. The Cable Bay filly has abundant natural speed to make her a player in an admittedly open contest.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No5 BRAVE GUEST (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
BRAVE GUEST hasn’t shown much in five attempts so far, but in a weak heat is capable of making the podium in the colours of former trainer Mick Channon.
Race 5 No3 BRIGHLEE (Nap)
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
BRIGHLEE ran well to chase home a useful type on her debut here, and after underwhelming at Goodwood put in a more encouraging performance at Salisbury. She’s back from a freshening break for a stable that’s running into some form, and needs respecting.
