BRIGHTON

Race 2 No1 COSMO GOODSPEED (Nap)
Trainer: Brian Meehan – Jockey: Charles Bishop

Little separates Fierce Fortitude and COSMO GOODSPEED on their running at Kempton, since when the latter improved to finish second at Ffos Las. The pair should fill the exacta, with Meehan’s runner just preferred.

Race 3 No5 ARVANA BELLE
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Charles Bishop

ARVAVA BELLE has displayed good speed on a couple of recent visits to this switchback course. Her nursery triumph happened over 1200 metres, and for a horse with so much pace she just needs to show that 1400 metres holds no perils for her.

Race 4 No9 DALMALLY
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

A gamble on Tenbob Tommy came unstuck here two weeks ago, but the gelding is not dismissed on this recovery mission. He can get into the shake-up, though DALMALLY appeals as a safer choice. He’s had a few chances, but the losses sustained on him at Windsor can be recouped with the addition of first time blinkers.

NEWTON ABBOT

Race 3 No7 AT THE OCHE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Tom Bellamy

Bumper winner AT THE OCHE has schooled well ahead of this first run over jumps and should give a good account. He delivered at the first time of asking at Doncaster, and though well beaten on his only other start last season it was in a better race at Newbury. He looks to have more potential than Jaminska, who ran well on her reappearance over the course and distance.

Race 4 No5 TESTFLIGHT
Trainer: Sue Gardner – Jockey: Isabel Williams

TESTFLIGHT was a winner over fences in the summer, but now reverts to hurdling under a new jockey. He chased home Faded Fantasy in a hurdle here last month, likes the course and should make a good fist of taking the prize even though he’s 3lb wrong in the weights.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No7 MAYFAIR MARKET (Nap)
Trainer: Sean Woods – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

Any support for the Oisin Murphy-ridden newcomer Art Gallery would be of interest, but the proven form of MAYFAIR MARKET makes the Pinatubo filly a safer way to go. She’s twice troubled the judge and Billy Loughnane can assist in making his mount’s greater experience tell.

Race 4 No12 PHOENIX MOON
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Coakley and Murphy have a couple of live chances at the tail end of this card, starting with PHOENIX MOON. The champ got the best out of the grey when she won at Lingfield. She’s 5lb higher in the ratings but is operating at her optimum distance whilst also enjoying a plum draw three off the fence.

Race 6 No1 MY AMBITION
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

MY AMBITION brings the best form to the table courtesy of his success and third placing at Lingfield earlier in the month. He’s only an occasional visitor to the all-weather, and just needs to show he’s as effective on Tapeta on a belated first visit to this course.
