Tottenham boss Thomas Frank says Harry Kane would always be ‘welcome’ back at the club but doesn’t believe the striker is ready to leave Bayern Munich just yet.
“There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back,” Frank said, when asked about the possibility of a reunion. “But personally, I don’t think he will do it right now. He’ll probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.”
While Kane reportedly has a release clause in his contract – believed to be around 56-67 million pounds depending on timing – Frank was quick to point out that Kane appears happy in Germany. “He was the top scorer last year, won the championship, and he’s doing fantastic now,” he added. “I don’t know what he’s thinking… but he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.”
The 32-year-old left Spurs in 2023 after becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances, moving to Bayern in pursuit of trophies-a decision that’s already paid off with a Bundesliga title, Super Cup, and a European Golden Boot. Despite Kane’s form-98 goals in 103 matches since his move – Frank noted that the striker may simply be enjoying a different chapter.
“I’m a traveller too, I like to explore. He’s been here (at Spurs) for many years, so why not enjoy Bayern a little more?” the manager reflected.
While speculation continues about Kane’s long-term future, Frank’s immediate focus is on the Carabao Cup, where 16-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett could make the bench against Doncaster.
“He’s young, obviously, but his composure, technique and vision are very good,” Frank said. “He’s a player we like a lot. Let’s see tomorrow – there could be an opportunity.”
