LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No4 PORTACLOY (Nap)
Trainer: Daniel Kubler – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
PORTACLOY was a well supported winner of her third outing over course and distance at the start of the month. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns pulled clear of the second, who was in turn well clear of the remainder, making the form look strong. Now heading down the nursery route from a good draw she can get the better of another Lambourn raider in STARTLED.
Race 4 No9 REDBUD SIXTEEN
Trainer: P Attwater – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
REDBUD SIXTEEN was very easy to back but raised her game to go down fighting on her second start in soft ground at Ffos Las. That’s the best form on offer in this first division of the 1600 metres maiden, she just needs to reproduce it this completely different surface.
BEVERLEY
Race 1 No5 HAAYIMM
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
Gleneagles colt HAAYIMM has shown promise and thought sure to learn from this first visit to the track can get the better of the more experienced CIRCLE OF MAGIC, with the pair filling the exacta.
Race 5 No4 A WAR EAGLE (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
A WAR EAGLE brings a ring of consistency to the table for this 1400 metres handicap and can make an impact if handling a tricky outside draw. His figures of 432122 speak for themselves, while his trainer has his team in good order for the final weeks of the campaign.
Race 7 No2 HIBERNATE (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Dunlop – Jockey: Mason Paetel
HIBERNATE looks a worthy favourite and can send punters home happy in the nightcap. The former Ballydoyle inmate has profited from switching to grass with a win at Chepstow followed by consecutive seconds at Leicester. The testing conditions will not be a problem, and he stays well.
WARWICK
Race 3 No4 BEAU QUALI (Nap)
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
BEAU QUALI proved expensive to follow in novice company last season when drawing a blank, but having been ambitiously campaigned he can now benefit from a move into slightly calmer waters. He ran into some well regarded opponents, while his final offering in a handicap hurdle at Newbury was solid enough to believe he is ready to turn a corner.
Race 5 No2 SAIL AWAY
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
SAIL AWAY was scratched from a race in which his trainer was multi handed last week. It now appears a smart move, as this race has cut up beautifully for the grey. When on song, as he was when last seen at Aintree, the selection is a fluent jumper, and this course with its five fences down the back is made for him.
Race 6 No4 SMUGGLERS HAVEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Sara Bradstock – Jockey: Lily Bradstock
The bold jumping SMUGGLERS HAVEN was a three times winner over hurdles last season whilst making a smooth transition to fences that’s seen him go close on both outings at Plumpton and Market Rasen. He lost out in a tactical battle with Abingworth last time, but should operate more effectively in this bigger field.
SOUTHWELL
Race 4 No3 COTIERE (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
COTIERE was worried out of it by an odds-on foe on her second start at Wolverhampton. The Justify filly has learned much from that race, and from a good draw today can open her account.
Race 7 No6 MISS MENDOZA (Each Way)
Trainer: Geoff Oldroyd – Jockey: PJ McDonald
MISS MENDOZA started her career having undergone a breathing operation. That’s not a good sign, but to her credit she ran well here to trouble the judge and do all her best work in the closing stages. She’s bred to be quick, and looks a value option to paper favourite Star Of Mali.
