PLUMPTON

Race 4 No4 NAP HAND (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon

The best race at this course’s first meeting of the season can fall to NAP HAND. The five-year-old let his halo slip when beaten by Squeezebox when odds-on at Market Rasen but had impressed on his previous start. He’s a compact individual, who jumps well and possesses the balance and brawn to handle this tight track.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 5 No1 PISANELLO
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Although being done few favours be the assessor, PISANELLO reacted positively to the addition of a visor to earn at Ripon. The six times winner is unquestionably running into form, and this is his best chance for a while.

Race 7 No3 TAYLORMADE BOY
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley

TAYLORMADE BOY can prove the pick of three last time out winners in the nightcap. He enjoyed being dropped into calmer waters at Carlisle, and remains at the basement level at a track which has its similarities.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No8 URGENT CALL
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

At the best of today’s three meetings for betting, URGENT CALL offers up some value in the opener. He didn’t go unbacked when fourth at Catterick last time, but is a big, raw individual for whom this move onto the AW can reap dividends. This will earn him a handicap mark, but if there’s one that can cause problems for paper favourite Devils Peak it’s probably him.

Race 2 No4 DEGALE
Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

No profile fits this race round a lap of the course better than DEGALE, who was a winner on his third and final start last year and carried on from where he left off to chase home a decent foe at Haydock. He shouldn’t be inconvenienced by this switch to sand, as he’s worked well on an artificial surface at home.

Race 4 No2 REDORANGE (Nap)
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

Although he underwhelmed on his latest start, REDORANGE had earlier looked unlucky in an Class2 at Goodwood and was then an honourable second in a Listed race at Deauville. He has the right man in the irons to get his head back in front from a favourable draw on this first try at the all-weather.

Race 6 No2 TANJEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

Dual AW scorer TANJEN ran creditably when second at Leicester to maintain her rich vein of form. These colours have been amongst the winners and there’s every chance the Kodi Bear filly will be equally as effective over 1200 metres.
