Fernandes recently turned down a multi-million move to Saudi Arabia, where Al Hilal was ready to triple his £250,000-a-week wages and splash out a staggering £100 million to lure him from Manchester United.

He further said: “I know numbers matter the most in football. Obviously, It was a big number that the club could get for me. So I know how tough it was for the club.

“When I spoke with the president of Al Hilali, I spoke with him once and I told him, ‘I’ve never thought about leaving, I appreciate your call.

“Whatever you want to do or not, you can talk with the club,’ because I’ve always said if the club wanted to sell me, then yes, I had to make a decision. But if the club doesn’t, I don’t have to make a decision, because my aim is to stay here.

“It’s a lot of money for me, too, but it is what it is. People make decisions in their lives. I won’t regret it because this is the place I want to be and this is the place where I want to be successful also.”

The Portugal football star joined the Red Devils in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon. He has made 291 appearances and has scored 98 goals in all competitions.

In an interview amid swirling transfer rumors, Amorim made it clear that Bruno is not for sale. He described the Manchester United captain as “irreplaceable” and vital to the club’s future. Determined to fend off interest from other clubs, Amorim is committed to keeping Bruno at Old Trafford, where he belongs.
