A bond of growth and return, as Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Manchester United again after four years, when they reluctantly let him jump ship to the Red Devils, now aiming to re-sign the 25-year-old back to their squad.
Sancho was on a season-long loan of 10 months at Chelsea during the 2024-2025 season, where he delivered an exceptional performance, contributing to seven goals in 31 Premier League appearances.
The Blues were interested in the England star as talks were held to renegotiate a salary suited for a player at his level, but an agreement could not be reached. Chelsea had to pay a £5 million penalty fee to avoid triggering their £25 million obligation.
When Sancho returned to Old Trafford after his loan deal ended, he and his fellow team-mates Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Donny van de Beek were each given two weeks to find new clubs ahead of the new season, allowing them time to secure moves that would provide more playing opportunities and help Manchester United re-organise their squad.
Other clubs interested in Sancho include Juventus, Napoli, and several teams from Saudi Arabia. Juventus held a video call discussion about Sancho on Wednesday, but the details of the conversation remain unknown.
Napoli is also trying to play their cards right to beat their rivals to this signing. Regarding the Saudi Arabian clubs, no specific teams have been confirmed, but rumors suggest that some are actively exploring the possibility of signing him.
According to Sky Sports News, United want to sell the winger for £25 million. Sancho has one year left on his contract which includes the option of a further 12 months.
Italian manager and Former player Roberto Di Matteo spoke to Goal.com about Sancho’s next move.
“I think it’s all down to Jadon Sancho. He has so much quality and so much potential to be one of the greatest in the game. I don’t know why he’s inconsistent.
“He went back to Borussia Dortmund and managed to help them to the Champions League final, he showed us again how good he could be.
“It’s completely down to him. It’s completely down to him what he wants to do with his career. Dortmund is a big club, Juventus is even a bigger club in terms of history and titles and they’re always competing to win titles, but it’s really down to his mentality. It’s down to his mentality and his attitude.
“What does he want? Does he want to be a player that is remembered in the history of football or does he just want to keep changing teams every season? It’s down to him.”
