PONTEFRACT

Race 3 No5 POINT LYNAS (Nap)
Traner: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

The feature Pomfret Stakes provides POINT LYNAS with a good opportunity to open his account for the season. The six-year-old is not only the top rated horse in the field, but his narrow defeat by Never So Brave in Ascot’s Group 2 Summer Mile stands out as the best pice of recent form on offer from anything in the field.

Race 4 No5 POL ROGER (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley

This could be the moment POL ROGER comes out of the wilderness for a stable starting to find its feet. While his last success happened over a year ago he’s been dropping in the weights, and might be able to raise his game on only a second ever visit to this venue.

Race 5 No3 GOLDEN HORSE
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

GOLDEN HORSE carries colours that have excelled with a number of trainers this year. In the hands of a man who loves having winners in Yorkshire, the Sea The Stars gelding has skipped a couple of engagements and can cause problems for the more experienced odds-on favourite Charming Princess.

Race 7 No5 RAIN CAP
Trainer: John Riches – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

Although he hasn’t won for more than two years, RAIN CAP shapes like a horse who can soon stop the rot. There’s been plenty to like about his strong of frame finishing and especially a recent narrow defeat at Hamilton. He’s a strong finisher, and should be able to throw down an effective challenge on this stiff uphill finish.

UTTOXETER

Race 2 No12 BLUEBELLA
Trainer: Georgie Nicholls – Jockey: Miss Olive Nicholls

BLUEBELLA meets Quick Of The Night on better terms than when second to that rival at Worcester. The Blue Bresil mare is now in a position to end a long wait for success, and can deservedly go one better.

Race 3 No8 BREAKING COVER (Nap)
Trainer: Anthony Honeyball – Jockey: Chad Bament

If running out again following his narrow success over course and distance BREAKING COVER can remain unbeaten for the season and complete a fine hat-trick. He’s carrying a 7lb penalty, but that is to a large extent covered by the claim of his conditional rider.

Race 7 No2 PRESENT FAIR
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: William Maggs

Two and a half miles is probably the optimum distance for PRESENT FAIR. The eight-year-old scored over further at Bangor but is now on a more testing track. He’s operating from 4lb higher, but can prove a thorn in the side of the unexposed Chillhi.
