Jack Draper (4) vs Sebastian Baez

After a series of exceptional results, the big-serving lefty arrives as a bona fide Wimbledon contender (despite the fact that he has never progressed beyond the 2nd round here). Draper proved his Grand Slam mettle during last year’s terrific US Open semifinal run. He has broken more ground this season, winning a maiden Masters title in Indian Wells before a runner-up finish in Madrid. He looks in solid grass-court nick, reaching the Queen’s semifinals in his only grass-court precursor event. First up for Draper is World No.38 Sebastian Baez. The clay-court specialist hasn’t had any grass-court practice this year (his last appearance being that heartbreaking first-round loss to Kecmanovic at the French Open). In fact, Baez is currently on a six-match losing streak dating back to his runner-up finish at the Bucharest Open.

The Verdict: Draper to win in straight sets at 0.22– Draper leads the head-to-head 2-0, winning both of those matches in straight sets. Draper should command this match from start to finish. Baez has never looked comfortable on grass and will struggle with Draper’s dynamism. It might be worthwhile to play under 27.5 games at 0.77 (for a tiny bit of value).
