LEICESTER

Race 5 No2 ARCHIVIST (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

ARCHIVIST needs to end a frustrating bout of ‘seconditis’ but in this mile maiden run on faster ground I think he can. The former Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt ran into a useful sort when making his debut for Haggas, who knows more about him and has the son of Dubawi ready to open his account.

Race 6 No4 CHALK MOUNTAIN
Trainer: Stuart Kittow – Jockey: Ron Hornby

With a pleasing first run back under his belt, CHALK MOUNTAIN can strike on his return to grass. He landed a fine hat-trick on sand last autumn which happened after a breathing op, and operates from optimum conditions for a stable whose handicappers are in good order.

Race 7 No1 FLICKERING HALO
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

FLICKERING HALO moves one rung up the class ladder following a success at Newcastle, while his is also runnng at Leicester for the first time. The former inmate of Joseph O’Brien’s stable needs to make further progression, but he’s in great heart.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 5 No4 SOLAR EDGE (Nap)
Trainer: Christopher Mason – Jockey: Gina Mangan

On a mixed card of all-weather and turf action, SOLAR EDGE appeals as the Bly bet in this low level sprint. The grey hails from a yard that does well with its sprint team, of which the Nap looked like a horse ready to win again when second at Wolverhampton last month.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No3 JIMMY THE DIGGER (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Veteran JOMMY THE DIGGER had been in jumping’s wilderness until producing an improved effort on his latest start at his local course of Ludlow. In his favour is that owing to training issues he can’t take too much racing, and is relatively fresh for this task with a top pilot doing the steering.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No7 BOWMAN
Trainer: P Morris – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

BOWMAN is carded to go off as a roughie in this sprint but might now be ready to do better for the latest of four trainers. His best result have been when he’s been allowed to bowl along, and in receipt of 0lenty of weight from his opponents he could prove hard to reel in.

Race 3 No5 JIMMY HENRY
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Tom Eaves

Herrington is an astute trainer who knows how to get the best out of any hors3 that joins his growing stable. In JIMMY HENRY he could have the answer to this bottom grade sprint. The selection returns from a four months break and can 9n lay improve on what he showed on sand, and at this track, in the winter.

Race 5 No2 DEEP WATER BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

DEEP WATER BAY has shown zero in his four career starts out of Heath House to date, but now tackling a longer trip in a weak Class 6 the New Bay gelding can raise his game, as is the case with so many horses from this stable.
