BRIGHTON

Race 3 No7 TWILIGHT GUEST (Nap)
Trainer: George Margarson – Jockey: Jack Doughty

This looks a good opportunity for TWILIGHT GUEST to take the spoils and get his trainer off the cold list. The five-year-old did his best work at the finish at Yarmouth last time and now returns to the bottom tier in a race that is well within his compass.

Race 6 No4 POP DANCER
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Jack Doughty

Leading trainer at Brighton Carroll could have the answer to this with the in form POP DANCER. A dual scorer here, he won at Goodwood and was only narrowly denied by a well backed favourite over the course and distance last time. His chance is boosted by having top apprentice Doughty taking 3lb off his back.

LEICESTER

Race 3 No2 PINA SONATA
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

Pinatubo filly PINA SONATA made a winning return at Wolverhampton and although opposed by some well related foes looks well worth her 6lb penalty in this novice over the same trip. She can repel the challenge of another recent scorer in Frankel filly Alfareqa.

Race 6 No4 WESTCOMBE (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Dylan Hogan

WESTCOMBE is a visibly impressive individual who has done well through the winter. By Ghaiyyath, he makes a big step up the distance ladder as is customary for returning three-year-olds from Heath House, and is well worth a market check.

REDCAR

Race 4 No5 JET BLACK (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald

JET BLACK was supported when second in a handicap at Nottingham where she relished the move up to today’s trip of a mile and a quarter. The Kodiac filly was only denied by a short priced favourite, and was closing the gap all the way to the line.

Race5 No5 POET’S DAWN
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

POET’S DAWN holds no secrets from the handicapper but has progressed from race to race in four outings this year which should have teed him up for a big run now dropped to the base of the tier system.

Race 6 No6 TORTOISESHELL
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Jason Hart

Kameko filly TORTOISESHELL is hard to assess on a first handicap run but could easily step up and contend now moved onto grass for the first time. She’s a well related individual and rates the chief threat to paper favourite Perfidia, who has a habit of finding one to beat her.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 2 No10 NATIONAL PARK (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Dubawi colt NATIONAL PARK proved costly to his supporters when turned over as a 4-6 shot at Newcastle where greenness caught him out in the closing stages. He’s up against an in form filly by the same sire in Cajole, but is fancied to put the record straight.

Race 5 No8 TRUSTY SCOUT (Each Way)
Trainer: Derek Shaw – Jockey: Rab Havlin

Granted his propensity for making the frame, TRUSTY SCOUT looks over priced for this bottom grade handicap. He’s taken away a cheque on his last two visits here and should again get into the shake-up.

Race 6 No8 SOLAR PASS
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

SOLAR PASS broke her maiden when attracting support at Lingfield and now moves into a handicap getting weight from all but two of her opponents. The Phoenix Reach filly has a stayers’ pedigree and should relish a step up in tripin the famous Mellon colours.
