Race 3 No4 QUEENS ROAD REVUE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
A bottom rung handicap can go to QUEENS ROAD REVUE who has progressed from race to race this season. The daughter of Pastoral Pursuits runs from an unchanged mark after troubling the judge at Beverley and should be cherry ripe to make it a winning first visit to this course.
Race 6 No6 SEE THAT STORM (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
The historic Zetland Gold Cup can see the very progressive SEE THAT STORM complete a nap hand of victories. His latest success happened when he returned over this course and distance and he’s strongly fancied to repel the challenges of Sir Lowry’s Pass and Born Ruler.
WINDSOR
Race 1 No6 DARK SUN (Each Way)
Trainer: James Bennett – Jockey: Laura Coughlan
An interesting roughie in the opener is DARK SUN for whom this is only a fourth career start. The Dark Angel filly has suffered from breathing issues , but having been snapped up in the bargain basement could easily raise her game on a first outing for her trainer.
Race 3 No11 COUP DE FORCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Stuart Kittow – Jockey: Callum Shepherd
COUP DE FORCE signalled with her podium finish over course and distance last time that she is getting ready to win again. The Lethal Force mare won three of four starts on the all weather through last autumn and has been wonderfully consistent throughout her career. She should be fine tuned for today’s assignment for which she is over priced.
Race 7 No2 FITZMAURICE (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: James Doyle
After three educational runs last year FITZMAURICE enters the handicap arena as a totally unexposed horse. Representing top connections he can make it a winning start to what should be a productive season ahead.
LEICESTER
Race 2 No6 VELVET WHISPER
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
On what could prove a good day for the Bethell stable VELVET WHISPER can put her best foot forward in this restricted fillies’ maiden. She hit the woodwork after being backed to make a winning debut and came away with excuses when out of the money at Newcastle. She’s thrived for her winter break, while her trainer has his team in excellent form.
Race 3 No2 BOATSWAIN (Nap)
Trainer: Simon Crisford – Jockey: S D Bowen
BOATSWAIN is arguable unfortunate not to be defending a two race unbeaten record. He landed some good bets when introduced at Lingfield in January before failing by a short head to edge out Masai Moon at Nottingham. He should prove too hot for the dropped in class Aurel to handle.
Race 5 No6 CRESTOFDISTINCTION
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert
CRESTOFDISTINCTION clocked a very good time for the final quarter mile of his maiden at Kempton where he overcame a wide draw to foil a couple of well supported foes. Time May tell that it was a cracking performance as he had to do it the hard way from the front but just kept finding. He’s been in great form at home, and is one to follow.
CARTMEL
Race 4 No5 FUJI FLIGHT
Trainer: Venetia Williams – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch
FUJI FLIGHT was having a first outing for two years when third at Ludlow last month. He’s trying to break a long losing sequence but is undoubtedly well handicapped, while confidence in him will grow should it rain.
Race 6 No2 SPYGLASS HILL (Nap)
Trainer: F Brennan – Jockey: James Bowen
That rain is forecast and another to benefit could be SPYGLASS HILL. He ran into one when second at Newton Abbot earlier in the month but should have the whip hand on these opponents and rates the best bet on the card.
HUNTINGDON
Race 4 No2 TURPIN GOLD (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard
TURPIN GOLD had things his own way in front when beating Prince Quattro at Plumpton and a similar outcome is predicted as the selection will be right at home on this equally sharp track, while having lost his way is now well treated on the best of his old form.
Race 5 No2 LUCKY ROSE
Trainer: Noel Williams – Jockey: James Davies
As long as she has learned something in the jumping department, LUCKY ROSE should prove hard to beat. Careless mistakes cost her backers dear on her chase debut at this track and in the circumstances she did well to chase home the impressive all the way winner.
