Novak Djokovic is on the hunt for his 100th gold tour title, a remarkable achievement that would further cement his legacy as one of tennis’s greatest players.
With every match, Djokovic inches closer to this historic milestone as he did it again by defeating Marton Fucsovics by 6-2,6-3, recording his first clay win of 2025.
The 38-year-old has been performing poorly in his last three matches since parting ways with his coach, Andy Murray, ending a six-month partnership.
Djokovic has faced defeat, following a first-round exit at both the Madrid and Monte Carlo tournaments, since losing the Miami Open final in March.
Speaking during the post-match interview, Djokovic said, His happy that he was able to deliver his best performance on the court even though he had a rough start.
“It’s a very demanding surface. We all know how tricky it is to play on clay compared to the other surfaces. You always have to expect to play another one or two shots.
“I’m very glad to be able to play the best tennis when it was most needed. All the way through, I was quite focused and pleased with the level of tennis, so hopefully that can continue.”
Djokovic is preparing for his next match against Matteo Arnaldi , the 24-year-old reached a career high of number 22 , becoming a rising star at the ATP Tour pushing his motto by reaching the fourth round of the 2023 US Open.
This is not the first time Djokovic and Arnaldi have play against each other , the young Italian defeated Djokovic in April 2025 in Madrid by 6-3 ,6-4.
Growing up he looked up to and still looks up to Novak Djokovic, even mastering his game of play which will make it hard for the Serbian to break through this match against the young blood.
