The Reds have been unstoppable this season under new boss Arne Slot, who has taken Jurgen Klopp’s foundations and built a side that are tearing up the Premier League.

They have stormed to the top of the table, secured a spot in the Carabao Cup final, and cruised into the Champions League knockout rounds. Slot’s magic touch has outshone even Klopp’s final year, squeezing every ounce of quality from the squad.

But not everyone has kept pace. Veteran left-back Robertson, now 30, has shown signs of decline, struggling to match the relentless demands of Slot’s system. The Scotland captain has been a cornerstone for years, but his dip in form has forced Liverpool to hunt for a long-term successor.

Federico Chiesa remains the only new face at Anfield this term, and with big names like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk—whose contracts expire in the summer—potentially on their way out, the Reds are gearing up for a major overhaul.

Add in whispers of departures for forwards Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota, and it’s clear Liverpool’s recruitment team have their work cut out.

On the left-back front, Fulham’s Antonee Robinson had been in the frame. The 27-year-old has dazzled this season, but Football Insider reports that his age has raised doubts at Anfield. “Liverpool have question marks over Robinson despite his incredible form,” a source told the outlet. “He’ll be 28 by next August, and they’re looking younger.”

Step forward Kerkez, the 21-year-old Bournemouth standout. “He’s a more concrete target,” the report added, highlighting Liverpool’s focus on youth as they plot their next moves. The Hungarian has caught the eye with his pace and poise, fitting the profile Slot craves.

Elsewhere, Caught Offside has linked Liverpool with Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis, another rising star. “Arne Slot’s side have added the young defender to their transfer list,” the report claimed. “He’s impressed at Wolfsburg, and Premier League clubs rate him highly.”

The 20-year-old Greek has also drawn looks from AC Milan and Real Madrid, but Liverpool are in the mix for what could be a headline-grabbing deal.

Slot himself has stayed tight-lipped on transfers, but after a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in November 2024, he hinted at his approach, saying: “We’re always looking to improve. The squad’s in a great place, but you never stand still in football.”

A recent X update from Liverpool’s official account echoed that sentiment, praising the team’s “relentless mentality” after a 3-1 Champions League victory over AC Milan in December—proof they’re not resting on their laurels.

For now, Kerkez leads the chase as Liverpool aim to blend youth with their winning formula. With Slot at the helm, the Reds are building for today—and tomorrow.
