LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No6 RACING SNAKE
Trainer: Clive Boultbee-Brooks – Jockey: Ned Fox

After showing improvement to claim a minor cheque at this course last month, RACING SNAKE can again trouble the judge and is one to watch in the market. He reacted well to the addition of cheek pieces on that occasion. It was just a fifth career start for the gelding and he can build on it.

Race 3 No3 CAUVICOURT (Nap)
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Brendan Powell

Several can win this interesting maiden hurdle but CAUVICOURT might have the last laugh. He raised his game when chasing home Electric Mason as a 40-1 no hoper at Fontwell, but that outing has done him the power of good. It was his first run over hurdles, and augers well for a solid display this afternoon.

Race 5 No3 WEAVER’S ANSWER (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Vaughan – Jockey: Alan Johns

WEAVER’S ANSWER came to himself at this time last year when successful at Plumpton. He delivered by a big margin in first time cheek pieces which appear to have carried on working. He’s had a freshening break since finishing second at Hereford before Christmas, and should enjoy a return to this course where he earned on his only other visit.

Race 7 No1 MOONSHINE MAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Henrietta Knight – Jockey: Brendan Powell

Double Oban did us a good turn with his success last week but if this comes too quickly for him, MOONSHINE MAN is the one that can cash in. The selection attracted support and travelled best for a long way on his latest outing at Musselburgh, jumping well from the front. It’s worrying that he tied up quickly on the run-in, but granted a more restrained ride he can do better.

HUNTINGDON

Race 4 No2 BETTY’S TIARA
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Ben Jones

Having found one to beat her in three of her last six outings, BETTY’S TIARA deserves a change of luck. She ran into Jasmine Bliss at Ludlow last time, and after making a race of it with that well regarded rival can now prevail at the main expense of PISMO BEACH.

Race 6 No4 RUMOURSAREFLYING (Nap)
Trainer: Pam Sly – Jockey: C Todd

RUMOURSAREFLYING had jumped well and looked to be about to make a move when falling at the last fence on the far side at Wetherby last week. He’d been a springer in the market, and might well have had a big say but for what looked a particularly heavy departure. As long as that doesn’t leave it’s mark the seven-year-old can post an overdue first career success.

Race 7 No7 SEASMOKE
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: Joe Anderson

On her return from almost 300 days off SEASMOKE can go well. She notched a first career win that day at Market Rasen, and has shown plenty enthusiasm in her work and schooling leading into this belated first tun of the campaign.

NEWCASTLE

Race 4 No3 BADRI (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: George Wood

BADRI returned from a three month absence to rock up at Southwell and has been handed a good opportunity to back that up for a trainer who is amongst the winners. His all-weather pursuits have been few and far between over the last couple of years, but if you look back far enough he has a good record at Gosforth Park.

Race 5 No10 MARTIN’S BRIG (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Faye McManoman

MARTIN’S BRIG finished just out of the money on the latest of many visits to this course last week and appeals as a horse that’s on a decent mark. He keeps threatening to win and should make a good fist of it.
