The FA is waiting for Michael Oliver’s report before deciding whether to charge Liverpool manager Arne Slot for misconduct after the Dutchman was shown a red card after the final whistle of Liverpool's 2-2 draw at Everton on Wednesday.
Slot and assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff were both shown red cards at Goodison on Wednesday night. The incident followed a pulsating Merseyside Derby in which James Tarkowski’s 98th minute strike drew the Toffees level.
The 46-year-old walked onto the pitch at full-time and exchanged words with one of the assistant referees before shaking hands with referee Oliver, who immediately showed Slot a red card. In the post-match interview room Slot was not allowed to address the media due to the Premier League rules.
Speaking to TNT Sports Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said “I don’t think the ref had the game under control. It is a fact and it is what it is,” said the Liverpool skipper.
Once the report has been read, Slot could be receive a standard charge or a non-charge with a disciplinary hearing. It would take two to three weeks to conclude a hearing. Slot, therefore, could be on the touchline for Liverpool’s upcoming games against Wolves, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle.
This won’t be the last time that the Dutch mentor has served a ban. He previously sat out Liverpool’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton in December after receiving three yellow cards.
Liverpool’s next match will be in the Premier League on Sunday against Wolves at Anfield. The Reds sit top of the pile, seven points clear of Arsenal in second.
