CARLISLE
Race 2 No2 GALUNGGUNG (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
Having cruised through the race and jumped beautifully, GALUNGGUNG was in the end run out of it by Hombre De Guerra at Ayr, an effort that afforded him a 2lb rise. He’s the winner of his only point in Ireland, two of his three races over hurdles and one of four chase outings. He still has plenty of room for progression, and should be suited by this stiff track.
Race 6 No4 TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE
Trainer: Nick Alexander – Jockey: Bruce Lynn
The consistent TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE gained a deserved success over three miles at Ayr last time. The grey engages in a much bigger field for this open contest, but might have gained the kind of confidence injection that can see him follow-up.
Race 7 No6 THEY WANT ME
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
THEY WANT ME was a cosy winner of his only point at Punchestown, and in terms of potential would be the clear pick in the nightcap. He hails from a yard that’s getting nicely into gear, and can prove too strong for Noble George.
SOUTHWELL
Race 4 No10 ELFORLEATHER (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon
ELFORLEATHER was a three times scorer on the all-weather and earned in a handful races for Jack Channon before being sold privately to King. He’s now carrying the popular Million In Mind silks, and is sure to have been well prepared for the switch to hurdling. This involves a switch of venue for him, following his withdrawal from boggy Lingfield last week.
Race 7 No1 JUST CHASING MAY
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Callum Pritchard
JUST CHASING MAY has a happy of knack of troubling the judge, and should do so again in this long distance handicap hurdle. Since opening his account at Uttoxeter last summer he’s earned on all four starts, the last twice with Pritchard in his saddle. That rider is good value for his 5lb claim.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 2 No4 ARLECCHINO’S REX (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Usher – Jockey: David Probert
ARLECCHINO’S REX made a good fist of it against Sweet Fantastic on his first run of the year at Kempton and now has a hood added. If that makes him more settled he has a good chance of going one better, as he’s well drawn and has go-to rider Probert in the plate.
Race 7 No9 HARLINGTON (Each Way)
Trainer: Joe Tickle – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
Having hit the crossbar on both starts this year, HARLINGTON can now deliver. He’s been foiled by a couple of useful foes in those races at Lingfield and Wolverhampton, while it’s encouraging that Fallon remains in his saddle for his match up with LIGHTNINGBOLTZOOM and HIGH COURT JUDGE.
Race 8 No1 KING’S CROWN (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
KING’S CROWN wasn’t able to cope with Just Ten High at Southwell last month but the five-year-old now enjoys a swing in the weights and is perfectly drawn to attack. He’s in a wide open sprint but can build on that pleasing performance.
