Manager Unai Emery is eager to strengthen his squad before February 3, especially with Jhon Duran nearing a 64.5-million-pound move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

One of the prime targets on Villa’s radar is 29-year-old Spain international Marco Asensio.

Currently under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2026, Asensio joined the French club from Real Madrid in July 2023.

Despite showing promise, he has been largely underutilized, being an unused substitute in three of PSG’s last four fixtures.

In his 47 appearances for PSG, he has scored seven goals, and in his previous stint at Madrid, he netted 61 goals in 286 matches.

PSG is open to offloading Asensio this winter, offering him to several clubs, with Villa among the interested parties.

The Midlands side has had Asensio on their watchlist for some time and are confident that securing a loan deal would be a straightforward process.

Aside from Asensio, Villa are also considering other attacking options, including Joao Felix (Chelsea) and Matheus Cunha (Wolves), with Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel on their list but at a lower priority.
