He has emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and attention to detail and has made it clear that he expects every player to give their maximum effort.

There’s no doubt that Ruben Amorim needs to make changes to his Manchester United side. Here we take a look at four high-profile United players and look at whether the new manager should keep or sell.

1. Marcus Rashford – Sell

The lights are thickening for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as his career is uncertain at Old Trafford. Ruben Amorim told the media that “if things do not change, he will not change.” Amorim also stated that he would rather give a place on the bench to his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach instead of Marcus Rashford due to a perceived lack of effort.

With four goals scored in the Premier League so far this season in 15 appearances, Rashford last played on December 12 against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. Rashford’s best season to date was the 2022/23 season, where he scored a career-high 30 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils, a feat that had not been achieved by a Manchester United player since Robin van Persie in 2013.

Speaking to English sports journalist Henry Winter, the 27-year-old said he is “ready for a new challenge.” Despite having talks with several clubs, he has not secured a loan.

2. Casemiro- Sell

In the summer of 2022, Manchester United secured a significant transfer deal with Real Madrid, signing Brazilian midfielder Casemiro for a reported fee of £70 million. However, despite the initial excitement surrounding his arrival, the move has not yielded the desired results for the Red Devils.

The 32-year-old has struggled to find his footing and replicate his impressive form from his time at Real Madrid. According to recent reports, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been open about Casemiro not being part of his future plans, which are focused on leading the team to winning ways and filling up the trophy cabinet.

As a result, the club has approved his departure, with a price tag of £30 million. Casemiro has reportedly received significant interest from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) for a potential move to one of the top Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, or Al-Ettifaq.

3. Bruno Fernandes- Keep

Bruno Fernandes became the Manchester United captain due to his consistent high-level performance on the pitch, demonstrating strong leadership qualities through his work ethic, playmaking abilities, and vocal presence on the field.

Since joining the Red Devils in January 2020, he has been instrumental in driving the team forward, and his vision and work ethic have been key factors in United’s successes. Fernandes himself has stated that he loves playing for Manchester United and feels a deep connection with the club and its fans.

He has emphasized the importance of consistency and winning mentality, which aligns with the club’s ambitions. The 30-year-old has been vocal about his desire to help Manchester United return to its former glory, and he is willing to put in the hard work necessary to achieve that goal.

With his talent, experience, and leadership, he is an invaluable asset to the team.

4. Rasmus Hojlund- Keep

Rumor has it that AC Milan and Juventus are interested in Hojlund as a backup option should they fail to sign their top targets. He is still highly regarded in Italian football due to his impressive spell at Atalanta.

Joining the club in an initial £64 million deal with a further £8 million in add-ons, the 21-year-old has only managed to score two goals in 18 games. Despite this, he still deserves to stay at Manchester United and continue his development.

At a young age, he has tremendous potential for growth, and with guidance from the coach, he can refine his skills. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Hojlund’s talent and eagerness to learn make him an asset worth nurturing.

What he needs most is to gain confidence, and with patience and support, he can unlock his full potential and become a valuable contributor to the team.
