LINGFIELD PARK
Race 6 No4 CHARMAINE (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
Camelot filly CHARMAINE looked better the further she travelled when opening her account at Kempton and is an unexposed individual taking on fully tested rivals. She should have more to offer on this first handicap venture in the colours of Elite Racng.
Race 9 No11 CITY CYCLONE
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: William Carson
Carroll has earning prospects with Charlie Mason but that one is poorly drawn whilst stablemate CITY CYCLONE is berthed in a lovely part of the gate. The selection has hinted in his last four starts that he’s going to pick up a race sooner or later, and this looks his best chance.
FAKENHAM
Race 3 No3 MICRONORMOUS (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor
MICRONORMOUS can make the long haul from Pond House worthwhile by scoring on her first outing over fences. The mare has been a slow burner but should be seen at her best operating around this easy track.
Race 6 No4 AWESOME FOURSOME
Trainer: Nigel Twiston- Davies – Jockey: James Turner
Though no star at Grange Farm, AWESOME FOURSOME can settle a score with Lunar Contact in this conditional jockeys’ handicap chase. He enjoys a 6 lb pull with that rival from their recent meeting over course and distance, which is probably enough to see the tables turned.
CARLISLE
Race 4 No2 DEDICATED HERO (Nap)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson – Jockey: Ryan Mania
There’s going to be plenty of interest in Irish raider Kevin’s Pride but I prefer the claims of DEDICATED HERO. The Nap brings very good bumper form to the table courtesy of back-to-back Kelso successes and is one of the nicer young prospects in the Thomson yard.
Race 5 No1 MAROWN
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Sean Quinlan
Super consistent MAROWN was a prolific scorer in his early career, but hasn’t displayed that killer instinct since the spring of 2021. That said, he’s earned in all but one of his last 13 outings and suffered from being in the grip of the handicapper. With his stable in good order, he can make this a winning seasonal reappearance.
Race 6 No12 WINCHMORE HILL (Each Way)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
Lightly-raced WINCHMORE HILL is worth a market check on this return for the principal patron of his trainer. He is having only a second outing under Rules, and has plenty of scope for progression.
Race 8 No3 CONISTON GEORGE
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
Several take the eye in a interesting handicap hurdle, but CONISTON GEORGE could defy a lay off against the in form Disco Annie and Blue Fin as he’s well regarded at Greystoke.
SOUTHWELL
Race 2 No7 NALA THE LIONESS (Each Way)
Trainer: Karl Burke – Jockey: Sam Feilden
NALA THE LIONESS was a useful bumper performer before being sidelined by an injury sustained in a Grade 2 contest at Aintree. She troubled the judge in a couple of AW maidens and an Ascot bumper, and if having retained that level of ability can get into the shake-up.
Race 4 No6 INGRA TOR (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
INGRA TOR gained a first career success over this course and distance but has been an infrequent visitor to the all-weather subsequently. The latest evidence however suggests he’s ready to return to winning ways on sand, as he was denied by just a neck at Wolverhampton last month. Although he’s competing from a higher class band today, he has the rail which can prove a big advantage to him in this race round a left-handed bend.
Race 8 No12 MOUNT KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Sean Kirrane
MOUNT KING is a speculative choice after missing out on a similar opportunity last week. The former Irish-trained gelding has little mileage on all-weather surfaces, and if enjoying the rub of the green from a wider draw than ideal, can get involved at a price.
