LEICESTER

Race 2 No3 BE AN ANGEL (Nap)
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Neil Callan

BE AN ANGEL has shown she can handle some cut in the ground while gaining experience of this track in a narrow defeat on her introduction a fortnight ago. The Twilight Son filly can now go one better in a race that’s cut up favourably for her.

Race 6 No7 EQUION
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

EQUION went up 5lb for a tidy success over this course and distance two weeks ago but seems to be progressing from race to race. That success should act as a confidence boost in his clash with another recent soft-ground scorer in Marsh Benham.

REDCAR

Race 3 No1 THE TRICKSTER (Nap)
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart

THE TRICKSTER delivered at the first time of asking at Beverley for which he’s incurred a 7lb penalty. He’s opposed by a dangerous foe in Lope De Vega colt Novelista, but he looks progressive, and can complete the task in hand to remain unbeaten.

Race 4 No10 VISITANT (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Aiden Brookes

Pivotal gelding VISITANT ran better than his finishing position indicates at Thirsk and now has a new apprentice in his irons. The veteran can get a bit detached, but having gone very close in two of his last four starts he’s carded to get into the shake-up at a working man’s price.

Race 5 No9 LASTING LOVE
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: PJ McDonald

LASTING LOVE brings an experience card to the table in this interesting novice for future stayers. The Lope De Vega filly has fluffed her lines a couple of times but her sex allowance together with the penalty SIR EDWARD LEAR has to carry means she’s getting 10lb from that foe and leaves NO RETREAT as her main barrier to success.

AYR

Race 3 No5 NOT IN KANSAS (Nap)
Trainer: Nick Alexander – Jockey: Bruce Lynn

NOT IN KANSAS came back from an enforced absence to post back-to-back triumphs at Musselburgh and Perth last spring and shapes like a mare that could have more to offer. She finds herself in a competitive race for her seasonal return, but having shown she operates well following a break can comp, eye a fine hat-trick.

Race 5 No3 MALANGEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Lisa Harrison – Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

MALANGEN turned for home with a clear lead at Carlisle last week only to find she had done too much and was swamped up the final hill. Given a more controlled yet similarly enterprising ride on this much easier track and gelding can claim a cheque.

SOUTHWELL

Race 3 No6 ROCK DIVA (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Sangster – Jockey: Hector Crouch

ROCK DIVA attracted market support before being foiled by Veraison on her Wolverhampton introduction. She handled the Tapeta surface well, and might have learned enough to repel the challenge of paper favourite Texas Starlight, who also finished second on her only start and is a pea out of the same pod.

Race 8 No5 MOUNT KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Frederick Larson

MOUNT KING could start at a big price for this bottom-level handicap and if so is worth a speculative bet. It was at this time in 2023 that he discovered his best form, and though unable to add to that this season he has the ability to earn on a belated first career start on the all-weather.

NEWCASTLE

Race 1 No7 UNIQUE SPIRIT
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: David Nolan

UNIQUE SPIRIT has string together a sequence of good efforts with a win and latterly a near miss over this course and distance. This is a tough card for wagering, but he is one to be interested in.

Race 2 No6 ANNANDALE (Nap)
Trainer: Jim Goldie – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan

Having upped his game to score at Ayr earlier in the month, ANNANDALE looks the one to beat getting weight from his five opponents. He’s up a notch on the class ladder from 5lb higher, but can serve up similar on this first run on sand for a year.
