KEMPTON PARK
Race 3 No2 DARN HOT MYSTERY (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Nicola Currie
Candy could do with pulling a nice prospect out of the hat and DARN HOT MYSTERY has the pedigree to suggest she might be the one. The daughter of Too Darn Hot is interestingly out of a mare by July Cup winner Lethal Force and so should be all about speed. She is also well drawn to attack, if she’s good enough, but ultimately the way she travels in the market might be the best indicator to her performance.
Race 6 No4 CAPRELO (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Egan
CAPRELO brings solid form to the table courtesy of his success on handicap debut here and subsequent Windsor defeat (second) in a race that has worked out well. The only question mark is whether he can operate as effectively on a first start for three months, but he’s worth giving the benefit of the doubt to.
AYR
Race 2 No2 CHINESE SPIRIT (Each Way)
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Tommie Jakes
CHINESE SPIRIT is along with Desert Dream the old man of the party but the grey is capable of getting involved. He picked up another minor cheque at Carlisle last time and can further raise his game on a first visit to this track in almost a year.
Race 4 No14 LUMENBOURG (Each Way)
Trainer: Julie Camacho – Jockey: Ryan Sexton
The addition of a visor assisted LUMENBOURG when he posted a 25-1 shock at Doncaster. That was just a fifth career start for the gelding who could prove dangerous operating from the base of the weights and with the same headgear retained. He needs to show it was no fluke, and can.
Race 5 No2 POL ROGER (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley
POL ROGER can give Beasley a belated 30th birthday present by confirming his liking for this course with a third success here of the season. The Nap went back-to-back in May and it’s hard to knock his three subsequent near-misses, helping to make him one of his jockey’s favourite horses.
WINDSOR
Race 3 No1 STAINCLIFF (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
STAINCLIFF has abundant talent and should on just a third start in public take care of business. The daughter of Advertise hasn’t been without her issues but the way she’s been working suggests this should prove a straightforward assignment for her.
Race 4 No13 PALMAR BAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
PALMAR BAY has improved from race to race this season, being easy to back on his first two outings but attracting some support ahead of his cosy course and distance triumph last month. He appears to have crept into the contest with a handy weight, and I fancy him to hunt down Stewards Cup winner GET IT who is conceding an onerous 18lbs to the selection.
Race 6 No9 MILVUS (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: George Bass
MILVUS isn’t an obvious choice for this bottom-grade handicap, but is capable of taking home a cheque of some kind. A couple of earning efforts in what has been a select campaign indicate there could be more to come, and that he can belatedly break his duck.
