BRIGHTON
Race 6 No2 HAWAJES (Nap)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Jack Doughty
There’s no getting away from the good recent form of HAWAJES who has the wherewithal to oblige in a weakly contested nightcap. The four-year-old was coming back off a four-month break when chasing home Asmund at Leicester, and then Fact Or Fable at Chepstow. He’s clearly on good terms with himself, and if repeating that level of form should win.
YARMOUTH
Race 3 No3 UPTON (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark
UPTON is the least experienced in this small field, Mandy having shown a glimmer of ability when placed on her latest start could easily make a bigger jump forward. The American-bred filly is ready to step up on that admittedly heavy defeat and get into the shake-up.
Race 6 No9 DASHING DONKEY
Trainer: William Stone – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark
DASHING DONKEY posted back-to-back successes at this course before his sequence was halted with a fourth placing at Leicester in a race where the principals finished in a heap. There are question marks against all the protagonists for this low-grade handicap, but Dashing Donkey could easily vie for favouritism.
SANDOWN PARK
Race 3 No9 WILD NATURE (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: Pat Dobbs
WILD NATURE comes from a very good family and with his trainer in the habit of unleashing first-time-out winners can join that emergent band. He’s well drawn for this maiden run round a right-handed bend, which is in contrast to his probable market rival Dunamase.
Race 4 No2 SOLOMON
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand
SOLOMON was a snug winner of an apprentices’ race at Haydock and there’s no surprise his connections are trying to strike while the iron’s hot. Like most three-year-old handicaps run here, it’s hard to rule anything out, but though higher in the weights he still has scope for further progression.
CHEPSTOW
Race 1 No2 AUSTRIAN THEORY (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
AUSTRIAN THEORY has in two races for his trainer looked as if he’s enjoying a change of scenery. He finished strongly when just out of the money at York and wasn’t beaten far in a warm heat at Thirsk last time. He’s a rare runner here for the Easterbys, and needs respecting.
Race 3 No2 INGRA TOR
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert
INGRA TOR has been something of an underachiever but there was nothing wrong with his near miss in a Racing League sprint at Yarmouth two weeks ago when he finished third in a blanket finish. Conditions look set fair for a similarly forward run from the Churchill gelding this evening.
Race 4 No6 MISS ATTITUDE (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
MISS ATTITUDE looked unfortunate not to get up on the first day of Goodwood last week and the assessor has agreed by raising the filly 6lb. She can run off her old mark here, leaving connections with no choice but to take their chance, and if she travels as sweetly she looks sure to be in the shake-up.
