WINCANTON

Race 4 – MARSH WREN 11/4

MARSH WREN jumped with aplomb on her chasing debut and can take the Lady Godiva Mares’ Novices’ Chase on just her second outing over fences.

Shaun Edmunds’ seven-year-old is lightly-raced and there is surely more to come from her.

She won her only bumper and four of her eight races over hurdles before being sent chasing this season and she looked a natural at Warwick on her debut last month.

There is a slight concern that she has never put two good runs together, but the argument that she is only best when fresh does not hold much water given that she came back from a 50-day break last February and was well beaten on her first outing, but then won her next race.

Race 6 – HALL LANE 5/2

HALL LANE will be one to watch in the Trustatrader.Com Handicap Chase, as he is coming off the back of a good run at Market Rasen.

He didn’t receive much support in the market during that run though, as he was given outsider status at 16/1, but he shrugged that off to finish second.

Now that he has that run under his belt, which was over a similar distance, he is likely to go close this time.

Race 7 – LOWRY’S BAR 13/10

LOWRY’S BAR looks good for a third win this season in the Trustatrader You Can Trust Our Traders Handicap Hurdle.

Trained by Phillip Hobbs and Johnson White, he was second in his only point-to-point before winning here on his hurdling debut.

The horse he beat there won next time out and ran respectively at Cheltenham on Friday and Lowry’s Bar had little trouble defying a penalty at Chepstow.

An opening handicap mark of 120 seems pretty lenient and it looks like his good form could continue here.

Race 8 – MY LADY PHOENIX 5/1

MY LADY PHOENIX takes on handicap company in the Clearwater Dynamics Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.

She strips fitter this time after finishing second in a novice hurdle at Chepstow last month, where she finished six lengths behind Lowry’s Bar.

She should be able to get the job done this time on a course that she has raced on before, with her last Wincanton outing resulting in a third-place finish with odds of 100/1.
