WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 3 No6 MEDIA MOGUL (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
MEDIA MOGUL was only denied by an upwardly mobile foe on his latest start at Newcastle and is now handed a great chance to go one better, and open his account. This is just a sixth career start for the Advertise gelding who can thwart the hat-trick bid of It’s A Love Thing.
Race 4 No9 SECOND COLLECTION
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Luke Morris
Although she needs to overcome a tricky draw on the outer, SECOND COLLECTION is a horse that’s ready to win again following a number of podium finishes since her latest success here before Christmas. She hails from a stable that’s enjoying a golden run with its considerable AW team.
Race 6 No1 PESSOA
Trainer: Adrian Wintle – Jockey: Finley Marsh
Top weight PESSOA fits the bill as the most likely winner of this first leg of the mile handicap. It was over 1400metres that he scored here last week and he has to shoulder a penalty, but from a perfect slot in the gate three off the fence he can post another success.
Race 8 No3 HOT CASH
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert
Derby entry HOT CASH made no mistake on his first run at Epsom before posting a frame finish in a Group 3 at Deauville last summer. A minor reverse kept the Too Darn Hot colt off the course after that, but he’s wintered well, and should take the spoils on the way to better things.
SOUTHWELL
Race 1 No2 ULTRA BEAT
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Stan Sheppard
ULTRA BEAT looked to be going well within himself when exiting his recent race over today’s course and distance and appeals as a winner without a penalty. This isn’t a penalty kick for the seven-year-old, but if his jumping holds up he should prevail.
Race 4 No1 DUNSKAY (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Ben Jones
DUNSKAY is taking time to learn the rudiments if jumping hurdles, but with a more encouraging effort at Warwick behind him can start to live up to the form that saw him score in bumpers at Exeter and Huntingdon. If on his A-game he should make no mistake.
Race 6 No5 SAILED AWAY
Trainer: Stuart Edmunds – Jockey: Charlie Hammond
SAILED AWAY has a happy knack of troubling the judge which was demonstrated in him posting six frame finishes from seven outings last season. The Sea The Moon gelding has enjoyed a select campaign this term, and after a promising effort at Market Rasen can return to winning ways.
WARWICK
Race 2 No3 SEASMOKE
Trainer: Billy Aprahamian – Jockey: James Bowen
SEASMOKE moves up the distance ladder in this novices’ limited handicap hurdle but looks as if he will appreciate it. He’s done well for his trainer and is just preferred to Lizzie Rey, who escapes a penalty for her recent Southwell triumph.
Race 4 No1 HOLESHOT (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Vaughan – Jockey: Alan Johns
HOLESHOT represents a stable that is running nicely into form, and he could hardly have been more impressive when making all at Taunton. He’s completely unexposed, and should make light of his 10lb rise in the weights to see off top weight Chief Sunday.
Race 5 No2 SAIL AWAY
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Atkins
SAIL AWAY has not been without his problems, but after a series of disappointing efforts finds himself on an attractive mark. There was just a hint that the grey might be on the way back when he troubled the judge on his latest start, and he now has a conditional rider taking 7lb off his back.
CHELMSFORD CITY
Race 1 No6 SPECIAL ACCLAIM
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
SPECIAL ACCLAIM will benefit from this first run but has nevertheless shaped promisingly at home, and may well be good enough to take the spoils in the colours of the Box 41 syndicate. The gelded son of Acclamation is certainly bred to be quick.
Race 6 No4 FRANCISCO
Trainer: Patrick Chamings – Jockey: Alfie Redman
FRANCISCO has taken away a cheque on four of his six outings and put in a career best when second here earlier in the month. It’s very hard to knock the gelding’s form, he just needs to show he knows where the winning line is.
Race 7 No5 KITARO KICH (Nap)
Trainer: George Baker – Jockey: Neil Callan
KITARO KICH has blossomed as a five-year-old, scoring at this course, Lingfield and Wolverhampton and starting favourite for each of his last four outings. Though turned over at a shade of odds-on here last time he returns with easily the best credentials, and can bounce back.
Race 8 No1 LIGHTENING MANN
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
LIGHTENING MANN was in need of the race when overcoming a drift in the betting to open his account at Lingfield. That wasn’t a warm race by any means, but this step up to a mile and a quarter will play to the strengths of the selection who is now fully tuned.
