PREVIEW: DSTV Premiership rolls into week 20 after Nedbank Cup break

After interesting Nedbank Cup action, the DStv Premiership re-commences! Mamelodi Sundowns and Marumo Gallants have begun their quest for continental glory in fine fashion, and locally, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates must prove their intentions of playing on the big stage.

Saturday 18 February

Royal AM 15/10 | Draw 2/1 | SuperSport United 19/10 (15:30)

Kicking off Saturday’s proceedings, Royal AM welcome SuperSport United to the Chatsworth Stadium. Matsatsantsa are licking their wounds after suffering a shock defeat to an amateur team from the ABC Motsepe League, but will take confidence from their 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture over Royal AM. However, since returning to the helm of the home side, John Maduka has won two straight fixtures. Despite the odds, it is a tough fixture to call, and the draw looks the likely outcome.

Sekhukhune United 31/20 | Draw 19/10 | Richards Bay 19/10 (17:30)

Brandon Truter and Sekhukhune United are gelling well but two straight DStv Premiership defeats must be overturned against the top end of the table’s Richards Bay. Sekhukhune are undefeated in six home games with four wins and two draws. Backing them on the Double Chance Win/Draw is a good punt.

AmaZulu 13/10 | Draw 39/20 | TS Galaxy 23/10 (20:00)

AmaZulu are on the search for silverware under the Zungu leadership, but the league will not be where they find it. It’s been three straight draws for Usuthu and now they face a TS Galaxy side who have not conceded in three straight fixtures. Sead Ramovic has made his team hard to break down and AmaZulu have not proven capable of unlocking tight defences. The draw is tipped.

Sunday 19 February

Kaizer Chiefs 8/10 | Draw 26/10 | Golden Arrows 31/10 (15:30)

Kaizer Chiefs have found it hard to break down a compact team in recent fixtures – even when they’re down to 10 men – and only when the game is open and free-flowing do they look a menace. Golden Arrows are not the kind of side who are going to give away much space, but recent results have also shown defensive discipline is not their strongest point. Both Teams to Score is the play, but I would not avoid having a cheeky bet on the Chiefs’ straight win.

CT City 17/20 | Draw 43/20 | Swallows 34/10 (17:30)

Confidence in the Cape Town City camp is at an all-time low after three successive defeats, including a Western Cape Derby and penalty shootout loss in the Nedbank Cup. However, City will reside on the fact that Swallows have failed to win an away game in 17 attempts and have failed to score in their last four games. Back CT City at 17/20.

TREBLE @ 5/1
Orlando Pirates Win 15/20
Kaizer Chiefs Win 8/10
CT City Win 17/20
