Sam Curran to Punjab Kings
All-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive purchase in the history of the IPL. Curran moved to the Punjab Kings for $2.26 million. The previous record was held by South Africa’s Chris Morris, who joined the Rajasthan Royals back in 2021.
Ben Stokes to Chennai Super Kings
All-rounder Ben Stokes joined the Chennai Super Kings for $1.98 million. Stokes previously played for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL – and has been joined by New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson at the Super Kings.
Harry Brook and Adil Rashid to Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad spent $1.61 million on Harry Brook, who scored a century in each of England’s three Tests against Pakistan in December 2022. Brooks will be joined at SRH by England team-mate Adil Rashid. Hyderabad secured the leg-spinner for $243,000.
Joe Root to Rajasthan Royals
Former England Test captain Joe Root welcomed a maiden IPL contract. He was recruited by the Rajasthan Royals for $121,000. Root’s Royals stint will be preceded by a stint with the Dubai Capitals in the inaugural edition of the International League T20 in the United Arab Emirates.
Will Jacks to Royal Challengers Bangalore
After contracts with the Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Big Bash League and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, all-rounder Will Jacks will join the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB purchased Jacks for $390,000.
Phil Salt to Delhi Capitals
Batsman Phil Salt joined the Delhi Capitals for $243,000. Salt will play alongside South African batsman Rilee Rossouw at the Capitals, who remain in pursuit of a maiden IPL title after 2020’s loss in the final to the Mumbai Indians.
Reece Topley to Royal Challengers Bangalore
Seamer Reece Topley was sold to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for $231,000. Topley has recovered from the ankle injury that prevented participation in England’s 2022 T20 World Cup campaign.

Several England stars went unsold at the player auction for the 2023 IPL, including batsmen Tom Banton, Dawid Malan and Will Smeed.
