Marcus Tavernier is a growing integral part of Bournemouth’s squad while talisman Gabriel Jesus will be eager to net against the Saints. This and more in this week’s Friday 5iver!
Arsenal have well and truly blown the title race wide open. The Gunners have blown a 2-nil lead in back-to-back league fixtures, settling for a point in each fixture respectively.
Everton were left shell-shocked after they were hit for three by a Fulham side that had head coach Marco Silva and leading goal scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic cheering them on from the stands.
There wasn’t a happy homecoming for Frank Lampard as his side went down 2-1 to Brighton on his third stint with the Blues outfit. The Premier League knocks continue for Leicester who recorded their eighth league defeat from their previous nine topflight outings.
Crystal Palace is one side who is experiencing a completely different run of form. The Eagles went from no league wins in 2023 to three in their previous three – all under the tutelage of Roy Hodgson.
Aston Villa enter this round of fixtures as the form team having won 22 points from a possible 24. Tottenham secured a much-needed victory against Brighton, before undoing their good work against a Bournemouth outfit who are slowly etching their way to safety. Fifth-placed Spurs make the trip to fourth-placed Newcastle in the fixture of the weekend!
With that being said, here are five players who could make the headlines come Monday morning!
Jesus to step-up and unleash quality against struggling Saints
Gabriel Jesus has picked up right where he left off. Across his previous three league appearances, the Arsenal forward has returned four goals from a total of seven shots, missing two big chances. The log leaders welcome bottom club Southampton in this week’s round of action where I’m sure we can expect a statement victory following their recent stalemates.

Front man Edouard declared fit and is roaring to go
Odsonne Edouard has secured the striker’s berth under Roy Hodgson. Prior to his new manager’s arrival, the striker had started 14 out of a possible 28 league fixtures but has since started three out of a possible three. During that period, he has delivered a goal from eight shots and created two chances in that spell. Palace host a relegation-threatened Everton outfit this weekend in what is sure to be a nail biter!

‘One to watch’ Almiron to resume pivotal Magpies role
Miguel Almiron is my pick to shine in this weekend’s blockbuster tie at St James’ Park. The Paraguayan has netted a team high 11 goals from his 26 league outings this season. The Magpies have won just one of their previous six league meetings between these two clubs, with that win coming in the reverse fixture this season.

Electric, pacy and flexible! – Brentford star Kevin Schade has it all
Kevin Schade could throw a spanner in the works at the Gtech when Brentford welcome a rampant Villa side. The summer signing has appeared in 11 league fixtures under Thomas Frank since his arrival where he has delivered an assist. I back him to open his account for the Bees in front of the home faithful.
From the Bundesliga to Brentford. Excited to see how 21 year old Kevin Schade adapts to the Premier League. He's super quick, a talented dribbler and has an eye for goal. Should be an excellent player on the transition for The Bees, one for the future. 🔴 🐝 pic.twitter.com/RRzY2P6ZDU

Dribble wizard Tavernier basking in form
Marcus Tavernier has been directly involved in eight goals across his 21 league appearances for Bournemouth. Whilst he has not added to that tally across his previous three league outings, he has attempted four shots and attempted 30 ground duels. He is an integral part of the Cherries who are finding their form at the best possible time.
