Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has announced her squad for the Turkish Women’s Cup against Turkey, Uzbekistan and Venuzuela.

Fixtures:
15 Feb: 🇹🇷 Turkey
18 Feb: 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan
21 Feb: 🇻🇪 Venezuela

The Hollywoodbets Super League continues to be the main supplier of talents to the national team and it came as no surprise that 18 of its stars received call-ups from Desiree Ellis, the head coach.

The contingent is lead by Africa’s number one Andile Dlamini of Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, Sibulele Holweni (UWC) and Nthabiseng Majiya (Richmond Ladies).

Majiya was named Young Player of the season in 2022 after showing great performances in the league and had a cameo role during AFCON winning journey in Morocco.

Mamelodi Sundowns has 7 representatives in the playing personnel whilst UWC has 6 players called up including their head coach who serves as Ellis’ assistant.

Katleho Moletsane of Royal AM will get a chance to be part of the squad and will hope Ellis will give her a chance in goals to impress before the World Cup in New Zealand & Australia.

Gabriella Soldado is a noticeable returnee in the team. She returns just in time after she struggled with a shoulder injury before AFCON. She is called up with teammates Robyn Moodally and goalkeeper Kaitlyn Swart.

Ellis looked to have been comfortable with the faces she has worked with before during friendlies, qualifiers and AFCON, and will not be giving many new caps in the team prior to the world cup.

Another noticeable absentee is Nomvula Kgaole of TS Galaxy. The midfielder played an instrumental role in winning the title in Morocco. The Lipstick sensation could have used the opportunity to forge a stronger partnership with Seoposenwe and Motlhalo in the final third.
