PREVIEW: Third T20 – Ireland v India

India have secured the series despite the weather not really playing along but more importantly they spent 40 overs out on the park. Ireland couldn’t keep pace with their visitors but must take the valuable lessons from this series.

Ireland vs India | Third T20I | Wednesday 21 August 2023 | The Village, Malahide

Odds TBA*

Ireland have been resilient and showed that they have depth in batting but they still need much more from their top order.

They were two down inside the first three overs of their chase and the tendency to lose wickets in clusters is a problem.

While Andre Balbirnie did well to hold things together, he got very little aid from the rest of the top order.

Mark Adair and Barry McCarthy has bowled well in patches, but here too Ireland need unity and greater focus on the team’s goals.

Jasprit Bumrah has come back in and shown India what they were missing by being a level above anyone else out there.

The new opening pair are still finding their feet as a combination but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have contributed as individuals.

India have given valuable game-time to emerging players that will aid them down the line with the likes of Rinku Singh one of those standing out.

Others who have been fringe players for a time also get a chance to do a job for India like Sanju Samson and Shivan Dube.

Verdict: India

India should secure their series whitewash
