Wednesday’s Best Bets and Tips- 31/08/2022

Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets for Wednesday’s racing at Lingfield Park, Southwell, Wolverhampton,  Hamilton Park, and Worcester on 31/08/2022.

LINGFIELD PARK – 31/08/2022

Race 4 No7 TREBLE JOY (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Tom Queally

TREBLE JOY is bred to like an all-weather surface and could prove a thorn in the side of paper favourite Naval College. He’s acquitted himself well in both races for his trainer at Kempton and this course, running Open Champion to a neck on his latest outing. It makes for strong form and he deserves to go one better.

Race 6 No8 AT THE DOUBLE
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris

I Doubt That and AT THE DOUBLE are like peas out of the same pod in that they’ve won twice and finished second in their last three starts. The former has definitely improved from a change of stable and will prove a danger to all, but At The Double was well on top at the end of his Beverley race earlier this month and has the cheek pieces her sported for the first time that day retained, making him the one to beat.

SOUTHWELL – 31/08/2022

Race 7 No1 BAEZ (Nap)
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Kevin Stott

On a tricky card for betting the only advice and right at the end of play is BAEZ. The Sixties Icon filly was a shade disappointing when starting favourite at Windsor last time but with a new jockey on her back could have more to offer against five rivals that have also run well on their latest outings.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 31/08/2022

Race 3 No7 MIDNIGHT FLAME
Trainer: Tom Ward – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

This stable is very much in form, following a mainly fruitless first half of the season. In MIDNIGHT FLAME it fields a filly that is getting closer to a first success with every run, and can endorse the promise of her first outing in a nursery when taking home a minor cheque at Chester.

Race 6 No7 COCONUT BAY (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Franny Norton

COCONUT BAY competes from a mark 4lb higher than that off which she opened her account at Lingfield. Although her two previous ventures to Dunstall Park have not proved rewarding she looks to have taken an upwardly mobile step under veteran rider Norton, and can follow-up.

HAMILTON PARK – 31/08/2022

Race 1 No7 QUEEN ROONEY
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

If Havana Gold filly QUEEN ROONEY goes forward from her eye taking debut when third at Newcastle she will be hard to beat. In the colours of her trainer’s principal patron she should have too much for previous scorer Equity’s Darling, who has to concede 5lb.

Race 4 No9 SEA GIFTED (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

SEA GIFTED looks the best bet on the card on the back of her near miss on second career outing at Kempton last time. The daughter of Sea The Stars can successfully bring her sex allowance into play as the only filly in the field.

Race 6 No7 CABALLERO (Each Way)
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish- Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

This could be a good time to catch CABALLERO, who drops back on the distance ladder after a couple of tries at a mile and a half. He’s been placed in each of his visits to this course, and though without a win in four years is going to buck that trend at some point, as he’s a well treated horse.

WORCESTER – 31/08/2022

Race 1 No5 JUDGE EARLE
Trainer: Peter Bowen – Jockey: Sean Bowen

JUDGE EARLE brings figures of 12131 to the table which is an impressive statistic for any summer jumper. He impressed with the way he travelled and jumped at this venue last week, and might not find a 7lb penalty impairing his rise up the ratings for a trainer/jockey combo in peak form.

Race 5 No1 FLINTSTONE (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

This looks a match between Rolypolymoly and FLINTSTONE with preference for the latter. He earned on both grass and the all-weather for his previous trainer and made a perfect start for new connections when landing some good bets at Stratford. There should be plenty more to come from him.

Race 7 No1 PILLAR OF STEEL
Trainer: John Spearing – Jockey: Jamie Moore

Shirocco mare PILLAR OF STEEL has posted figures of 222 in consecutive visits to this track. The top weight is thoroughly genuine and can deservedly open her account for the year for her veteran handler.
