DONCASTER

Race 1 – WHISPERING ROYAL 13/10

WHISPERING ROYAL didn’t allow inexperience to get the better of him when he made a winning start to his career at Dundalk back in November and having swapped hands for 75,000gns shortly after, this represents a good opportunity for him to enhance his profile on debut for Alan King.

His pedigree suggests the additional yardage is within his compass and another big run is expected.

ALA KAIFI rates as the chief danger, although TIMELY ESCAPE can improve now tried in a hood.

Race 3 – STORMY WAVES

BIGBERTIEBASSET and SECRET BEACH showed promise on debut and are high on the list of those to monitor in the betting, while DASH POWER was clueless on his racecourse bow but has a likeable enough pedigree to suggest he can get better in time.

However, the one who appeals most for an immediate impact is the Godolphin-owned STORMY WAVES, who cost 525,000gns as a yearling and has to be of interest for a high-profile yard that has taken a very patient approach with youngsters this season.

Race 5 – JACK DANIEL 10/3

JACK DANIEL found positive tactics to his liking when triumphing on his return to action at Thirsk in May and a similar approach may be good enough once more, with a 4lb rise looking more than fair.

ABSOLUTE DREAM posted his best performance of the season with a third at the same venue and isn’t taken lightly off the same mark.

The in-form BIRD OF PLAY also enters calculations if seeing out the trip.

Race 7 – RWENEARLYTHEREDAD 85/40

RWENEARLYTHEREDAD is turned out again quickly after a comfortable success at Beverley on Tuesday and he escapes a penalty so is backed to go in again.

The step up in trip looks like another plus and he should have too much for the consistent TRABAJO DETCHO and AWTAAR, who ran a highly encouraging race on her handicap debut at Doncaster.

Others to note include BRYCE, MINE THAT SHIP and SLINGSBYTOO.

YARMOUTH

Race 1 – RED EVELYN 15/4

Switching from a hood to a visor might prompt improvement from GOOD HUMOUR and he could provide a bit of value for a place in the frame if all eight stand their ground.

EMBARKED and GIRL INTHE PICTURE also have sound claims on the pick of their form but preference is for RED EVELYN, who wasn’t beaten far over this trip at Chepstow on her debut for John Butler a fortnight ago. Off the same mark, she shades preference.

Race 3 – FAIR DIMKUM 5/2

Going up in trip is logical for MISS CYNTHIA and having made a satisfactory return in a fillies-only race at Leicester, she may well go on to eclipse her opening mark of just 71.

LORDSHIP also warrants consideration back in a handicap after winning a novice with something in hand over 1m4f at Chepstow a fortnight ago.
However, preference is for FAIR DINKUM, who has the more proven stamina and that can give him a vital edge at this stage.

Race 4 – ZOUZANNA

ZOUZANNA’s starting mark of 84 could prove lenient in the fourth at Yarmouth.

The filly has run in three novice events for Roger and Harry Charlton, finishing twice in both her juvenile efforts before getting off the mark at the first time of asking this term.

Sent off an odds-on shot at Haydock, she easily held Prisha by two lengths, with the pair drawing seven lengths clear of the rest in what looks a smart performance.

Her opening rating gives the team something to work with and she could have plenty more still to come.

Race 5 – CHAMPAGNE SARAH 5/2

A determined winner over course and distance last time out, CHAMPAGANE SARAH is in the form of her life at present and the hat-trick looks very much on the cards for the three-year-old off a 2lb higher mark.

RUM COCKTAIL has run with plenty of credit on both starts since joining the Ed Walker team and she can give the selection most to think about, along with the capable LIPSINK.

Race 7 – HAULFRONHOBBS 5/1

The key form line in this contest appears to be a race over course and distance earlier in the month, in which runner-up WRATH OF HECTOR was a place ahead of HAULFRONHOBBS, with Bankrupt in fourth.

That represented a big step forward for Chris Dwyer’s filly, though, and she is fancied to improve past Wrath Of Hector.

BANKRUPT is capable of getting closer too and can make up the placings.

CHESTER

Race 1 – METABOLT

METABOLT has had a fine time of it so far this season, winning on both starts at Haydock and Windsor, and David Loughnane’s gelding is taken to handle the 5lb penalty incurred for the most recent success.

Tim Easterby always merits respect in these contests and recent Thirsk scorer DANZAN merits a place on any shortlist.

Although BRASIL POWER was a shade disappointing went sent off a short price favourite at Wolverhampton earlier this month, the first-time cheekpieces might aid his cause.

Race 3 – MIMI KAKUSHI 10/3

ON BORROWED TIME is turned out quickly again after making a winning debut at Redcar last week and can be considered.

However, MIMI KAKUSHI was a neck behind him that day when an odds-on favourite and is fancied to reverse those placings with first-time cheekpieces applied.

UP THE JAZZ was narrowly denied in similar company at York a fortnight ago and has shaped like this extra furlong can bring out further improvement.

Race 4 – TAJALAT 7/2

The majority of these have questions to answer at present and it may pay to take a chance on handicap debutant TAJALAT.

Roger Varian’s filly has posted three creditable efforts to date and her opening mark of 74 looks workable.

METAHORSE may find some improvement from a change of scenery and is another to consider, while CHASSERAL could appreciate this stiffer test and is also of interest.

Race 5 – MARKET VALUE 10/11

SPARKS FLY recorded a four-timer last month at Windsor, but the handicapper hasn’t reacted kindly and David Loughnane’s three-year-old may be worth taking on now 10lb higher in the ratings.

MARKET VALUE was value for further when gaining a breakthrough success in a maiden at Ripon in May and makes the most appeal on this opening bid in handicaps.

WIND IN YOUR SAILS boasts a similar profile and is a viable alternative.

Race 7 – ECCLESIASTICAL 9/4

ECCLESIASTICAL was a good winner over 5f at Ripon last time out and is fancied to follow up that success.

Tristan Davidson’s runner scored by two lengths on that occasion and has a 5lb penalty, but the fact he boasts a low draw in stall 2 can only be an advantage to him.

THEREHEGOES should pose the biggest threat after just being touched off over 5f at Lingfield, while ABLEGONE completes the shortlist.

NEWCASTLE

Race 3 – MONDAMMEJ 6/1

MONDAMMEJ can come out on top in the third at Newcastle this evening.

The six-year-old was beaten just a nose at Doncaster on his most recent start, coming late with his challenge and only just failing to catch Bond Chairman.

That was his first run without a hood since December 2020 and he seemingly enjoyed the absence of any headgear, combined with his reduced mark of 96.

The handicapper has edged him up 2lb for that effort, but it still leaves him well short of the 104 he was rated at this point last year and Mondammej could just be beginning to find his best again.

Race 4 – NASHWA 3/10

NASHWA is the undoubted star of the show at Newcastle as she drops in company to tackle this fillies stakes test.

The four-year-old was a dual Group One winner last year, supplementing her Prix de Diane win with success in the Nassau Stakes before only narrowly failing to make it a hat-trick in the Prix de l’Opera.

Her season culminated in fourth place in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, when the Keeneland track did not appear to particularly suit and a slow start left her with ground to make up from a very early point.

Hopes were high she could kick off the current campaign with victory in a Group Two at Saint-Cloud last month, but she possibly just needed the outing as she dropped away in the closing stages to come home fourth.

Her rating of 113 puts her 9lb ahead of her nearest rivals and without a penalty for her top-level successes, it will be most disappointing if Nashwa cannot resume winning ways.
