EXETER

Race 3 – DIAMOND RI 5/6

This may revolve around the Joe Tizzard-trained DIAMOND RI who created a deep impression winning a Warwick jumpers flat last season.
The previous Irish point-to-point winner can make a successful start with hurdles.

Asta La Pasta looked good when scoring at Uttoxeter last month on hurdling debut and rates the most obvious danger.

Insurrection received a wind op since finishing fourth in a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las on initial stable outing in April. Could show improved form.
Midnight Soldier warrants some thought.

Race 5 – STAY FAR AWAY 4/5

There is an interesting contest in the Betway ‘Future Stars’ Silver Bowl Novices’ Chase, a chasing debut for a handful of promising types who previously made an impression over hurdles.

Among them is STAY FAR AWAY, winner of the Albert Bartlett on his penultimate start last season and a horse for whom a chasing career was immediately mentioned.

The gelding makes his debut in this field of five and although the opposition is fair, with Dan Skelton’s Grey Dawning an obvious rival, if he takes to the task he ought to be the one to beat.

Race 6 – EDITEUR DU GITE 5/1

Gary Moore’s EDITEUR DU GITE can defy top weight to land the Betway Haldon Gold Cup Handicap Chase.

The chestnut claimed some notable scalps last term when beating Edwardstone and Energumene in the Clarence House Chase at Cheltenham in January, a win that followed success in the Grade Two Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton.

The Haldon Gold Cup is a return to limited handicap company for the nine-year-old and he certainly carries the evidence of last season’s victories with a top weight of 11st 12lb, but in this field of six, none of whom have reached the same heights, he still holds a lot of appeal.

Race 7 – MY SILVER LINING 11/2

MY SILVER LINING is on the rise as a staying chaser where the Emma Lavelle-trained seven-year-old returned from six months off with an authoritative display tackling fences at Wincanton.

An 8lbs rise in weights might not be enough to prevent her winning again.

Collectors Item finished well beaten on chase debut in a Listed Novices event at Chepstow on reappearance however could do better switching to handicap company back up in trip.

Broomfield Present won a staying handicap hurdle at Haydock in March and he looks like an interesting recruit to the chasing sphere.
Both Notachance and Ask Me Early warrant consideration.

NEWCASTLE

Race 4 – BEDFORD FLYER 11/4

Mick Appleby’s BEDFORD FLYER, who contests the Always Gamble Responsibly With BetUK Handicap at Newcastle.

The bay enjoyed a return to the all-weather when winning at Lingfield last time out and is a five-furlong specialist whose six career wins include success at Newcastle previously.

Race 5 – SHOW ME SHOW ME 9/4

The Ontoawinner partnership looks to hold a strong hand here with SHOW ME SHOW ME and Paddy’s Day.

Narrow preference goes the way of Show Me Show who was denied a nose tackling track and trip earlier in the week while the latter won over course and distance seven days ago and must be respected under a penalty.

Stone Of Destiny finished sixth behind the second selection here last time and cannot be ruled out with a swing in the weights favourable.
Foreseeable Future should also be added to the shortlist.

Race 8 – SACRED FALLS 6/1

The Katie Scott-trained SACRED FALLS is consistent. Yet to race on all weather but there is no reason she cannot handle this surface.

Went down by a nose attempting six furlongs at Redcar last time and may have enough to defy a 2.2lb rise in weights.

Glendown scored at Redcar on the same card and commands notable consideration off a 4.4lb higher mark.

Beauty Choice would hold claims on form displayed when winning over this distance at Pontefract delivering penultimate start.

Two-time course winner Fortamour might also feature.

Race 9 – TRABAJO DETECHO 7/1

Dropping in distance could see TRABAJO DETECHO get involved.
Two from three tackling track and trip and arrives on good terms following a decent third-placed finish here three weeks ago.

Woobay finished a solid runner-up at Redcar last month and needs to be included.

Kaidu brings an unexposed profile stepping back up to six furlongs on handicap debut representing a trainer and jockey combination who target amateur races.

Kats Bob completes the shortlist.
