Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing at Hamilton Park, Kempton Park, Chelmsford City and Wolverhampton on 16/08/2022.
HAMILTON PARK – 16/08/2022
Race 2 No2 TRIBAL HUNTER (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Oisin Orr
TRIBAL HUNTER was denied by the length of a well smoke cigarette on his Newcastle introduction where he ran green. Sure to be more streetwise and bred to handle turf, he can open his account on the way to better things.
Race 6 No7 HIGHWAYGREY (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Sean Kirrane
Three-year-olds Wilkins and Glam De Vega go into this off recent wins and will between them occupy a large part of the betting handle on this very competitive feature. While they can both earn, HIGHWAYGREY rates a better value option. He smoothly justified on course support for a first win of the campaign at Ayr, and holds sufficient scope to follow-up.
KEMPTON PARK – 16/08/2022
Race 3 No8 MAGHLAAK
Trainer: Charles Hills – Jockey: Jim Crowley
Muhaarar colt MAGHLAAK has a very good draw one off the rail from which to back up the promise he showed when third on debut at this track. Racing over the same trip, he should only have to make normal progress to open his account.
Race 5 No5 OUT FROM UNDER
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Harry Davies
Dubawi colt OUT FROM UNDER has attracted market support on many occasions and needs to add to his sole success at Newmarket. That was gained in decisive fashion and has been followed by three placed efforts in handicaps, giving him an appealing profile for a return to the winner’s circle.
Race 6 No6 WILLEM TWEE (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
The horse I’m most looking forward to here is WILLEM TWEE. The son of Ribchester has since being pipped by Monaadah at Newcastle raised his game to make no mistake in successive visits to Doncaster. He impressively took out his first handicap there and returns from a short break with abundant stable confidence behind his attempt to complete a hat-trick and to remain unbeaten on grass.
CHELMSFORD CITY – 16/08/2022
Race 1 No13 SHAHBAZ (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Hollie Doyle
Free Eagle colt SHAHBAZ has a good draw from which to attack following his narrow defeat at Newcastle. He’d contested a warm maiden on his Yarmouth debut and at Gosforth Park duly stepped up to make Solutre pull out all the stops. With market rival Hover On The Wind drawn wide he should make no mistake.
Race 3 No3 MISS BELLA BRAND
Trainer: Mrs I Gansera-leveque – Jockey: George Wood
MISS BELLA BRAND gained a deserved success over this course and distance last month and can confirm her superiority over The Nail Gunner. Her small stable is amongst the winners, while jockey Wood knows how to get the best out of her, an important factor in a race that any of the runners could win.
WOLVERHAMPTON – 16/08/2022
Race 1 No2 IMPERIAL KHAN (Nap)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Jason Watson
IMPERIAL KHAN has earned on both outings under the in form Watson, and looks to have been found a good opening in this weakly-contested Class6 in which Brazen Diamond is the one that presents the biggest threat.
Race 3 No2 DOUBLE TIME (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Mark Todd – Jockey: George Rooke
DOUBLE TIME can play the experience card to telling effect in this novice stakes. While aware that this third run back from a break will gain the gelding a handicap mark, he showed when troubling the judge as a 33-1 roughie at Chelmsford back in May that he has ability, and he can give previous winner Hezmie and paper favourite Proud Fairy plenty to think about.
