BATH
Race 1 No4 PHOENIX GLOW (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
PHOENIX GLOW did us a favour when winning as an 11-1 shot at Brighton and backed that up with a creditable third to Topo Chico at Lingfield. The Bungleinthejungle filly has remained in good form at home, and looks booked for another earning run.
Race 5 No6 DENIS ANTHONY
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Rowan Scott
Since his success at Ffos Las in June DENIS ANTHONY has earned on two starts to make his figures an impressive 22132. Fanshawe has a penchant with individuals of his ilk, and having looked a shade unlucky not to score last time at Lingfield he has a good chance of bouncing back.
Race 6 No6 FLASH BARDOT (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes
The best bet on this card is FLASH BARDOT. The Sixties Icon filly has good overall records on both the all-weather and grass and is in an easier race than when third in a Class 3 at Salisbury. She goes well for Dawes, whose 5lb claim is worth it’s weight in gold in situations like this.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 3 No3 MASTER OF MY FATE (Nap)
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart
MASTER OF MY FATE can make the long journey from North Yorkshire worthwhile by claiming a second victory in as many starts in this competitive novice. The money that came for the Footstepsinthesand colt at Pontefract proved well invested as he took care of business with the minimum of fuss. He could be destined for bigger things, and can resist the challenge of Windsor scorer Tan Rapido.
Race 4 No5 ART DE VIVRE
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Jamie Spencer
Having shown ability on each of her three outings to obtain a mark, ART DE VIVRE made no mistake on handicap bow at Thirsk. It’s not surprising that connections have opted to try to strike while the iron’s hot, and the Golden Horn filly makes plenty of sense under a 5lb penalty.
SOUTHWELL
Race 3 No9 QUEEN OF ATLANTIS
Trainer: James Ferguson – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
Caelan created a good impression when scoring first time up at Kempton while any support for the Gosden newcomer Eagle Angel would be of interest. However, Advertise filly QUEEN OF ATLANTIS gets a combination of her sex allowance and the penalty carried by the first-named horse, which granted how promising her own first offering was at Newbury makes her the one to beat.
Race 4 No4 INVINCIBLE AURA (Nap)
Trainer: Marco Botti – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
INVINCIBLE AURA went down in my book as incredibly unlucky not to open his account at Windsor. After an educational first run, he should have wised up, but he was as green as grass and ran as if it was his debut. The Invincible Army colt surrendered far more ground than that he was beaten by, first by missing the break and then by hanging. If he can avoid those traits on a switch to the all-weather he should make no mistake.
Race 5 No9 SHEEHAN
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
Muhaarar filly SHEEHAN embarks on a third outing from a good draw – so important on this turning left-handed course. She finished off her latest race at Pontefract well and should now be fine-tuned to put her number on the board for a trainer whose horses are starting to run into form.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 5 No6 CHARLIE’S CHOICE (Each Way)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Georgia Dobie
CHARLIE’S CHOICE attracted support before being scratched from a humble seller last week. He now finds himself in deeper water on a return from a 135-day absence but probably has a better chance than his three runs to get a mark indicate.
Race 7 No8 BELIEVE YOU ME (Nap)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Hector Crouch
BELIEVE YOU ME put previous form well behind when opening her account at Chepstow in July. She was backed as if defeat was out of the question and duly came home unchallenged. She’s running from a 6lb higher mark, but there could be a lot more to come.
