NOTTINGHAM
Race 1 No3 ELEFTHERIA
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Tom Marquand
Mehmas filly ELEFTHERIA looked for all the world as if she wanted to go further when staying on to claim a minor cheque at Goodwood. Moving up to a mile on ground she should cope with, this is a good opportunity for her to open her account.
Race 7 No4 NAVARRE EXPRESS (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Harry Davies
NAVARRE EXPRESS has shown herself to be a progressive individual and was a runaway scorer at Ffos Las, for which she’s gone up 6lb in the weights. The daughter of much lamented sire Roaring Lion could have a lot more to offer as she goes along the handicap route and can stay unbeaten in that division on the way to better things.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 5 No2 EASTER ICON (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass
EASTER ICON operates well on an easy track as shown when he scored over this course and distance in August. Although a shade disappointing at Ffos Las when he was fancied to fare better, he’s been in good form at home and can give his apprentice pilot a welcome winner.
Race 6 No5 JAZZAGAL (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman
JAZZAGAL fired a warning that she’s ready to return to winning ways when narrowly denied at Thirsk. She enjoys getting her feet into the ground and can fend off the attentions of her stablemate WADE’S MAGIC, who has good form at this track and looks sure to get into the shake-up.
BANGOR-ON-DEE
Race 6 No6 WORDSWORTH (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Jack Tudor
WORDSWORTH was a 100-plus rated horse when trained by Aidan O’Brien and made a bright start to his career as a jumper when second under the tutelage of Josh Halley at Ballinrobe. The Galileo entire is a fascinating addition to the Pond House roster, and should have little difficulty in taking care of business in this first outing under Rules.
Race 2 No4 UNCLE ARTHUR (Each Way)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan
UNCLE ARTHUR disappointed in his last few outings for his previous trainer and now returns from the summer off under new management. Although his move to another yard was a matter of a few miles, the change of scenery could have done him the world of good, and if he has benefitted today is the day to find out.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 4 No1 BLUE DAY
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
BLUE DAY has experience on his side as he breaks from the favoured rail in this race round a right-handed bend. The son of Blue Point picked up minor cheques at Newbury and Ffos Las, but has worked well on an all-weather surface at home. Any support for newcomer Durham Castle, who cost 220,000 guineas as a yearling, could prove significant.
Race 7 No1 BEHIND THE SCENES (Nap)
Trainer: Jason Tate – Jockey: Neil Callan
Saxon Warrior filly BEHIND THE SCENES is unbeaten on the all-weather and can remain so on this second visit to the Sunbury-On-Thames venue. The chestnut appreciated a step back up to a mile when scoring at Wolverhampton and on just a sixth career start has scope for further improvement from a cracking draw.
Race 8 No6 WIZARDING (Each Way)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
WIZARDING is another who can cash in on a favourable draw. For a horse that likes to lead he’s in the perfect slot on the rail. He looked a tad unlucky when crowded on his latest start at Bath three weeks ago, and can hammer home that point by posting an overdue first success of the season.
