BATH
Race 6 No1 CHERRY COLA (Nap)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Rose Dawes
Few stayers have the same consistency of CHERRY COLA, who under upwardly mobile apprentice Dawes scored at Yarmouth back in May and has been placed on three other occasions. The combination were only narrowly thwarted over this course and distance last month, and now have a good chance in this lower grade race to go one better.
Race 7 No11 WIZARDING (Each Way)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Kieran O’Neill
WIZARDING has the perfect slot in the gate for a horse that needs to be ridden prominently. The Showcasing gelding has indicated with a couple of earning runs here and at Southwell that he’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle, and though in a better race than last time is getting plenty of weight from the majority of his foes.
UTTOXETER
Race 2 No7 NORVICS REFLECTION (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: Harry Bannister
Both Shandancer and Seinesational have had plenty of chances. They will take a massive chunk out of the betting market, and if again proving vulnerable could find NORVICS REFLECTION the one most likely to trump them. The selection returns from an enforced absence of well over two years, and though only showing a modicum of ability when last seen on the track, is the type his trainer can do well with.
Race 5 No2 CAN’T BEAT HISTORY
Trainer: Henry Oliver – Jockey: Lee Edwards
Ya Know Yaseff did us a favour when scoring at Newton Abbot on Monday but had to struggle to make sure of the win. Whether he will be in the same willing mood under a 7lb penalty is open to conjecture, leaving CAN’T BEAT HISTORY as the logical choice. The selection came home unchallenged at Market Rasen and looks happier over fences than he did as a hurdler.
CARLISLE
Race 1 No9 NASNEEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Connor Beasley
Cole is a rare visitor to this borders course and when sending one all the way from Whatcombe it’s best to take notice. NASNEEN did not go unbacked when second on her Catterick introduction and the daughter of Territories is going to be a lot more streetwise. She’s well drawn, and with top northern Jockey Beasley in the plate can open her account.
Race 5 No7 TRUE NATION (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Jack Garritty
Mubhijah is certain to attract a welter of support on a first outing for her trainer. If a change of scenery has had the desired effect this perennial bridesmaid could have her day, but a more reliable proposition is TRUE NATION. The Sioux Nation filly showed marked improvement to claim a minor cheque on her second career start at Catterick and has more scope for progression than the favourite.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 4 No7 HIGH HANDED (Each Way)
Trainer: Brian O’Rourke – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
HIGH HANDED troubled the judge on debut here when a 50-1 roughie. The Siyouni filly retains the hood she sported on that occasion, and with Murphy an eye taking booking can see off Star Music as well as some well related newcomers.
Race 7 No6 MORDOR (Nap)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
MORDOR was unlucky to run into Sweet William when third in a good novice at Doncaster back in July which earned the Roaring Lion colt a handicap mark. As the most lightly raced in this field he has abundant scope for progression and needs respecting.
SOUTHWELL
Race 2 No8 STREAK LIGHTNING (Each Way)
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Josephine Gordon
STREAK LIGHTNING has run at Newcastle in each of his last eleven all-weather starts and has never been to this track. His last two efforts have been those of a horse that’s emerging into a winning playing field, granted he’s come down in the weights. He enjoys a very good draw, and if breaking prominently can have a say in this competitive Racing League contest.
Race 4 No9 NORDIC PASSAGE (Each Way)
Trainer: Johnny Levins – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
NORDIC PASSAGE was a handy winner for us at Newcastle, even though proving weak in the market. The performance showed how effective the eight-year-old is on Tapeta, and from a place closer to the base of the weights than the top he needs respecting.
Race 6 No4 LIL GUFF (Each Way)
Trainer: Daniel Kubler – Jockey: Sean Levey
LIL GUFF is well drawn for the race up the straight on a first visit to the course. She’s been thwarted on her last two starts, but those narrow defeats suggest she’s about to rediscover the level of form that saw her land back-to-back turf sprints in June. If turning up in the same form as last time she will be very hard to keep out of the argument.
