NEWTON ABBOT

Race 1 No1 VALENTINO DANCER (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan

The first race on a rare all-jumping day in the UK can go to VALENTINO DANCER. The chestnut was proficient at his fences when making his chase debut and only surrendered to an in-form rival. He’s learned from that experience and can prove too strong for Stepney Causeway, who has had issues at the start, and is more exposed than the selection.

Race 3 No7 THE GEORDIE GINGE
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

It will be interesting to see whether money arrives for German import Wonderful Eagle on his debut under Rules, but perhaps a safer proposition is THE GEORDIE GINGE, who looked to have improved when beaten in a photo on his return from a six months break at Stratford. The selection also had good form last year and was beaten an inch at Leicester, making him the clear form pick.

Race 4 No2 INVESTMENT MANAGER
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell

All the contenders for this handicap chase go to post with solid form behind them, but with efficient jumping an integral ingredient to success, INVESTMENT MANAGER is the one to be on. The seven-year-old has made a habit of running here and on a fifth straight visit can follow-up his cosy triumph of last month, at the main expense of Bagheera Ginge.

WORCESTER

Race 1 No6 JUSTSHORTOFABUBBLE
Trainer: Grace Harris – Jockey: Ben Jones

Course and distance scorer Zoran sets a high bar for his rivals to aim at but one that can cause him problems is JUSTSHORTOFABUBBLE. The Midnight Legend gelding posted a deserved success at Stratford last time and is getting 18lbs from the favourite. He can be relied upon to perform to a similar level and should cash in.

Race 2 No4 COURTLAND (Nap)
Trainer: Peter Bowen – Jockey: Sean Bowen

The Bowens hold the key to this three-mile handicap chase with COURTLAND who only had his winning sequence halted when contesting the Summer Plate at Market Rasen. His conqueror that day Born Famous went on to boost the form and this looks a good opportunity for the selection to make it a third triumph here in 2023.

Race 5 No6 SEINESATIONAL
Trainer: Dr Richard Newland – Jockey: Charlie Hammond

Although he’s had a few chances SEINSATIONAL can post a first success since joining the Newland stable. The selection has finished second no fewer than five times which poses questions about his resolution, but he remains attractive in that he’s the most likely in the field to run up to his best form.
