Race 1 No3 POET’S DAWN
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Archie Young
Easterby’s handicappers are going through a bountiful spell and POET’S DAWN is one of his team that is well overdue. The chestnut has dropped to a workable mark, and with a promising pilot taking 7lb off his back needs respecting and can prove hard to beat.
Race 4 No6 HIGHWAYGREY (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
HIGHWAYGREY had far too much to do on his latest start at York when staying on to finish just out of the money. He does need to be held up for a late run, and if a bit closer at the business end can make this a first success for over a year.
YARMOUTH
Race 3 No4 INFINITY BLUE (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: William Buick
In what looks a strictly two horse affair, INFINITY BLUE can outpoint Manhattan Mirage. The son of Blue Point is the most experienced in the field and his placed efforts behind King’s Gamble at Newmarket and Politico at Chester give him a definite edge on his rival.
Race 4 No3 PROMOTEO
Trainer: Marco Botti – Jockey: Neil Callan
PROMOTEO was doing his best work at the finish when claiming a minor cheque on debut at Kempton. The Postponed colt has learned much from that introduction against the useful Sayedaty Sayedaty and should now be primed to open his account against a well touted debutant in Masterly.
Race 7 No4 FAIR WIND
Trainer: Owen Burrows – Jockey: Jim Crowley
FAIR WIND went up 1lb for a creditable run at Chester and should be equally effective taking on older rivals here. The grey doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and can maintain his earning sequence at the main expense of Cover Up.
UTTOXETER
Race 2 No2 JEUDIDEE (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: David Bass
Williethebuilder brings strong bumper form from Ireland to the table for this debut under Rules but might have to play second fiddle to JEUDIDEE. The selection served up a minor upset when scoring at 16-1 on his jumps debut over course and distance. That was his second success from only three career starts, and now he can consolidate.
Race 5 No5 KARANNELLE (Each Way)
Trainer: David Rees – Jockey: Sean Bowen
KARANNELLE is narrowly preferred to Pop The Champagne in this mares’ handicap hurdle. The eight-year-old finds it hard to win, but on this first visit to Uttoxeter can raise her game under title race leader Bowen.
NEWCASTLE
Race 2 No3 SIR GEOFF HURST
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Oliver Stammers
The Hun put in an eye taking effort when second on debut but any support for SIR GEOFF HURST would encourage me to back him. The son of Sea The Stars is a beautifully-bred individual with much to live up to, while the vibes about him from my Middleham contact are positive.
Race 3 No4 WE STILL BELIEVE (Nap)
Trainer, Daragh Bourke – Jockey: PJ McDonald
WE STILL BELIEVE was a winner here back in March, and though his latest couple of visits have proved fruitless he returns following a success at Ripon and second at Hamilton to confirm he is firmly in the zone.
Race 5 No7 NASNEEN
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Clifford Lee
Territories filly NASNEEN chased home a more experienced rival in a pleasing first run at Catterick. She’s worked well on an all-weather surface at home, and can justify the long journey from Berkshire by opening her account.
Race 8 No8 MR STRUTTER (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Andrew Elliott
MR STRUTTER has figures of 122 from his last three visits to Gosforth Park. He enjoys the Tapeta surface, and under the same jockey who rode him in those races holds strong win and place claims.
Place Accumulator Perm (Races 2-8)
