RIPON

Race 5 No5 POET’S DAWN (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby- Jockey: David Allan

This looks a good opportunity for POET’S DAWN to gain his first win of the season. The Beverley specialist has won and run well at this track and indicated with a near miss in the soft here last time that he’s on the cusp of a return to winning form.

Race 6 No6 MISTER SOX
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

Easterby can be on the mark again with MISTER SOX who has a similar profile. By Pivotal, he loves to get his toe into the ground, while on his latest start in first-time blinkers he ran a seasonal best in going down by a neck to First Greyed at Beverley. This looks a good avenue for him to break his duck in.

AYR

Race 4 No1 AULD TOON LOON
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Jason Watson

AULD TOON LOON hails from a stable that enjoyed a bountiful Goodwood. In his own way he’s contributed to its rich vein of success with recent triumphs at Lingfield and Chester. He revelled in the soft ground to come home unchallenged on the Roodee, and looks set for further pickings.

Race 6 No1 AYR POET (Nap)
Trainer: Jim Goldie – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan

The ultra-consistent AYR POET gained a deserved success over course and distance and although higher in the weights now has his tail up. Though carrying a 4lb penalty he holds strong claims to repeat his victory in this contest 12 months ago and rates the best bet on this card.

WINDSOR

Race 1 No3 SERA DAWN (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: George Bass

Two factors that are important to SERA DAWN are easy underfoot conditions and not to hit the front too soon. The almost black filly traded very short in running on her latest outing at Sandown only to lead too far out. Bass will hopefully play his cards late, because she’s in great heart and ready to win again.

Race 2 No1 ADAAY IN DEVON
Trainer: Rod Millman – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

ADAAY IN DEVON can play the experience card to telling effect in this fillies’ maiden. She’s shown her best form on turf with runner-up slots at Goodwood and Bath, and with Murphy a further asset can repel the promising Zariela.

Race 3 No5 NAVARRE EXPRESS (Each Way)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

This fillies’ novice is probably deeper than it looks at first sight. Albany is a short paper favourite but at just north of evens doesn’t represent value. But that could come in the form of NAVARRE EXPRESS who is well regarded, and needed her first run back when third at Thirsk. The daughter of Roaring Lion can improve on what she showed and make things difficult for her main rival.

Race 5 No5 PFINGSTBERG
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

PFINGSTBERG is a commentator’s nightmare, but a name that we should be hearing more than the rest in this weakly contested bottom-level handicap. The selection has been getting his act together gradually, and after just missing out at Leicester looks in the A1 position to open his account. He’s getting weight from everything in the race, and has Murphy in the hot seat.
