BRIGHTON

Race 2 No2 FLY ZONE (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

The giant FLY ZONE should take care of business as a short-priced favourite in the opener. The form of his earning comeback run at Yarmouth was endorsed when the winner went on to land a Group 3, but he was found to have bled after disappointing on his latest outing. There’s an element of risk attached to him, but if on song he should outclass his opponents.

Race 3 No9 SEND IN THE CLOUDS (Each Way)
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Mollie Phillips

SEND IN THE CLOUDS would be a deserving winner of this bottom-tier handicap, after knocking on the door on his last two outings. The six-year-old likes this course and can add to his trainer’s good record at this meeting.

Race 4 No4 JUNOESQUE (Each Way)
Trainer: John Gallagher – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Confirmed front-runner JUNOESQUE can prove hard to catch with Doyle in her saddle for the first time. Twenty of the veteran’s last 23 outings on turf have happened here, while she has taken away minor cheques on her last three visits. Key to victory for the nine-year-old is that she can get onto an easy lead.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 1 No7 JAMIL (Nap)
Trainer: Miss T Jackson – Jockey: Miss Lois Teal

Several in this amateur jockeys’ race go to post with recent winning form behind them including JAMIL. The eight-year-old is a dab hand at this venue where he’s a four-time winner, and has gone 312 on his visits this summer. He takes his racing well and looks poised to pick up another cheque.

Race 6 No11 MR STRUTTER (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Andrew Elliott

MR STRUTTER did us a good turn when scoring at Newcastle back in June and has posted two successes at this course. Since those back-to-back triumphs in 2021 he’s troubled the judge on most of his subsequent visits. He will require luck in running in this big field, but is a likely earner if getting racing room in the short home straight.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 1 No4 WATERLOO SUNSET (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: George Bass

Bass guided WATERLOO SUNSET to his sole career triumph at this course two years ago and has ridden the gelding on all but one of his subsequent eight outings. The combination were narrowly denied here in early June, and are capable of taking away another cheque.

Race 2 No4 BETWEENTHESTICKS
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes

BETWEENTHESTICKS was given an endorsement of sorts when galloping companion Desperate Hero landed a proper touch at Newbury on Saturday. The youngest member of the party at three, he’s been a tad unlucky not to have put his name on the board, and with Dawes a positive booking this is a good opportunity for him to notch a deserved success.

Race 4 No2 CATEJAN (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: James Doyle

From the same stable CATEJAN appeals as the best bet on the card. The son of Advertise was unfortunate to be pipped on the post at Salisbury after a promising first offering at the same track. He’s going to be a lot wiser today, and went beautifully in his winding-up gallop for this last week.

BANGOR-ON-DEE

Race 2 No2 AL ZARAQAAN
Trainer: Sam England – Jockey: Jonathan England

Defending an unbeaten sequence AL ZARAQAAN should be very hard to beat. An economical jumper, he never wins by too far yet appears to have more in hand, and that can manifest itself by him cocking another snook at the handicapper.

Race 8 No1 POLICE ACADEMY (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Mr Ben Sutton

POLICE ACADEMY is a bet worth waiting for in the nightcap. Having landed some good bets on her first run for this stable she can successfully take the step from novice into handicap company.
