CARLISLE
Race 3 No1 WHAT’S THE STORY
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Connor Beasley
WHAT’S THE STORY can make it two wins from as many visits to this course in the consolation race for the historic Carlisle Bell. He landed some good bets when backed from odds against to odds on here last month with Beasley in the saddle, and went close to following up when third to Mostawaa at York. His trainer is sticking to the policy of running him in lower-grade handicaps where he carries big weights, and it can continue to reap dividends.
Race 4 No12 GARDEN OASIS (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
The Carlisle Bell itself can fall to GARDEN OASIS, who having needed his first two runs back made no mistake at Ayr. With the bit between his teeth he can put in a big earning run, though this is a race to play the exotics and others to consider are Golden Sands, United Front, Bashful and Pillar Of Hope.
Race 5 No10 C’MON KENNY
Trainer: Ian Williams – Jockey: Andrew Mullen
Now that he has tasted success, the lightly-raced and well-weighted C’MON KENNY can consolidate with another win in this hugely competitive Cumberland Plate. From landing a Ludlow bumper on his debut the grey has posted two successes on turf. He had to fight hard for his narrow success at Sandown earlier in the month, but as that was only his third outing in 15 months he could have more to offer. One that I shall have a saver on is KNIGHTSWOOD, a winner of two of his last three starts and representing a yard with a good record in this race over the years.
SALISBURY
Race 1 No7 METALLO (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
Caravaggio colt METALLO became detached in the early stages of his first outing at Newbury only to stay on to finish in the ruck, but a lot closer than he promised to be. The almost black individual has shown in subsequent work that he’s learned something, and at a big double-figure price he could get into the money.
Race 2 No6 REDREDROBIN (Nap)
Trainer: Malcolm Saunders – Jockey: William Carson
REDREDROBIN has been a captain of industry with her three turf triumphs and a narrow defeat in four outings within a month. She scored by a wide margin over course and distance last time, and though this is a tougher assignment it might be wrong to underestimate her.
Race 3 No6 EQUITY LAW (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Any move in favour of Steven would be interesting, but the logical ploy is to follow the stated claims of EQUITY LAW, who put in a promising first offering when second toSky Wizard at Salisbury and if going forward from that should open his account.
WORCESTER
Race 4 No1 CHEF D’ETAT (Nap)
Trainer: Shark Hanlon – Jockey: Miss Taylor Kingsley
The most interesting runner on this card is CHEF D’ETAT, a rare runner here for his astute trainer. The four-year-old sprang a surprise when a 33-1 scorer on debut in a Tramore bumper and should remain unbeaten on this debut under Rules.
BATH
Race 6 No5 HI CLARE (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Franny Norton
Yorkshire raider HI CLARE has performed consistently well for her owners and was gaining a second triumph from her last three outings in a Class 5 at Pontefract. All runners from the Johnston stable need respecting when making the long journey here, and she can show by following up that she hasn’t travelled just for the goodness of her health.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 2 No4 ADELA OF CHAMPAGNE
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark
Kingman filly ADELA OF CHAMPAGNE is a lightly-raced individual with the wherewithal to make this fillies’ handicap a first career success. She knocked on the door on handicap bow here last month and is strongly fancied to better it.
Race 6 No8 OLIVER SHOW
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: William Buick
While only picking up minor earnings so far, OLIVER SHOW can raise his game for top connections now switched to a handicap. The son of No Nay Never sees Buick teaming up with Sir Michael Stoute on a rare occasion, and his booking could prove significant.
Race 7 No5 CHIPS AND RICE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt
In a very tight-knit affair, CHIPS AND RICE could be the answer. The Golden Horn filly seems to have blossomed for her switch to the Fanshawe yard, and now back on Polytrack can add to her Lingfield triumph back in April at the main expense of Meisterzinger, who is worth a saver.
