BRIGHTON
Race 3 No5 SUN FESTIVAL (Each Way)
Trainer: Joseph Parr – Jockey: Neil Callan
SUN FESTIVAL landed the odds laid on him under this rider in comfortable fashion over this course and distance before posting another earning run when third at Newcastle. Moved back onto the turf at a venue he likes, the five-year-old can regain the winning thread, with Callan back in the hot seat.
Race 6 No3 VOODOO RAY (Each Way)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Tom Queally
Having struck over this course and distance last week, VOODOO RAY is the go-to horse in this low-grade handicap. The chestnut enjoyed dropping back to seven furlongs, and under the same jockey can defy his 5lb penalty and follow-up.
HAMILTON PARK
Race 1 No1 MIDNIGHT LIR (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley
From a stable enjoying a purple patch, MIDNIGHT LIR can make his greater experience count. The Nap has improved from race to race in his three outings, and if performing at the level he was second at Thirsk last month should open his account.
Race 4 No2 BERAZ
Trainer: Julie Camacho – Jockey: Graham Lee
Breathing issues hindered BERAZ who spent a while in the sidelines, but after corrective surgery, the five-year-old came back to almost pull off a major shock as a 40-1 shot at Hamilton. As long as he doesn’t bounce after that fine first run for his trainer he can go one better.
FFOS LAS
Race 3 No3 PASSING TIME (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
I think this was a tricky card for punting, and am relying on sole advice PASSING TIME to step up to the plate. The Time Test gelding has earned in handicaps at Chepstow and Bath in as many outings this season, and should benefit from switching back to maiden company.
STRATFORD
Race 4 No2 SEA PRINCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Alex Hales – Jockey: Harry Bannister
Admiral’s Sunset has good recent form on this track but SEA PRINCE also won here last August and continued his fine level of consistency by earning in three subsequent outings. His record since going chasing reads 232143-2 and he looks the safest play.
Race 5 No5 PINK EYED PEDRO
Trainer: David Brace – Jockey: Conor Brace
PINK EYED PEDRO doesn’t have too many miles on his racing clock over the past year, but showed how good an operator he is fresh when delivering on a return to hurdles at Southwell last month. Now in the veteran stage, he could prove a value option against market rival Red Force One.
Race 7 No5 PRIVATE WALKER (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Mr Evan Daly
Twiston-Davies has done well with a group of bumper horses that run in his colours named after characters from Dad’s Army. The latest is PRIVATE WALKER, who is well bred for this game, being by Milan out of a mare by Hawk Wing. He’s shown promise at home and needs to be taken seriously on debut.
