PONTEFRACT

Race 4 No1 SUMMERGHAND (Nap)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

SUMMERGHAND has posted midfield finishes in a strong of major sprint handicaps and should relish this move to calmer waters. Beaten just over five lengths behind Saint Lawrence on his latest start in the Wokingham, he made a similar fist of it in Class2 contexts at the Newmarket Guineas meeting and York May fixture, and if getting the rub of the green is better than the horses he faces today.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1 No4 OUTGUN (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

King had a reverse with his two-year-old runner at Chelmsford that didn’t fire but OUTGUN should fare better following a promising first run back that was a third frame finish in just four starts. From a good drawn close to the fence he can get off the mark.

Race 2 No7 EMMA EMILLEEN
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Callum Shepherd

Several of the fillies have a chance in this novice but the best value is EMMA EMILLEEN. The daughter of Lope De Vega has improved race by race, and following a near-miss at Nottingham can go one better on this switch back to an all-weather surface.

UTTOXETER

Race 2 No1 OUR SCHOLAR (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Jones – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy

OUR SCHOLAR goes from strength to strength and looks carded to complete a fine hat-trick. Although penalised for his cosy recent triumph at this course the Nap shows no sign of regression and with his tail up is going to prove hard to stop.

Race 4 No4 TANGO ECHO CHARLIE
Trainer: Dr Richard Newland – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

TANGO ECHO CHARLIE is a well handicapped performer with few recent miles on his racing clock. Though beaten a long way on his latest start here last month that was very much a sighter for the gelding, who will be much further forward now, and can earn.

BRIGHTON

Race 3 No1 CHIPS AND RICE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Sean Levey

This represents a drop in grade for CHIPS AND RICE who is back to the same level at which she last won. Since that Lingfield triumph she hasn’t been disgraced in races at Ascot and Kempton, and on her happy hunting ground should prove too strong for Mrembo, a game winner at Newbury who gets a stone and a half from the selection taking into account her pilot’s 7lb claim.

Race 5 No4 FILM STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Todd – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

Zoustar filly FILM STAR attracted solid support when opening her account at this course, having been narrowly denied here on her previous start. Her form has taken on an upward curve since she switched from the all-weather to grass, and with ace apprentice Loughnane in the irons for the first time she can follow-up.
