YARMOUTH

Race 5 No2 THE COLA BRASIL (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Spiller – Jockey: K W De Oliveira

THE COLA BRASIL went well for his inexperienced pilot when second in a close photo at Dundalk, since when both horse and jockey have migrated to England. The selection made a fairly encouraging start for his new trainer when third over this course and distance, and rates the only bet on a card where it should pay to be selective with your wagering.

HAYDOCK PARK

Race 3 No11 WILD GODDESS (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

The beautifully-bred WILD GODDESS can play her part in putting some confidence into this side of the Godolphin operation by taking out the six furlongs maiden on her debut. The daughter of Camelot has shown plenty of ability in her preparatory work, and can strike at a course where Appleby often unleashes some of his best juveniles.

Race 5 No1 HIDDEN PASS
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

Hopefully lightning can strike twice when HIDDEN PASS is introduced in this six furlongs novice. The Dubawi colt is a similarly blue-blooded individual, and a win for Wild Goddess would certainly further boost my confidence behind him.

PERTH

Race 3 No2 PEARL OF THE WEST (Nap)
Trainer: John McConnell – Jockey: Henry Brooke

PEARL OF THE WEST switches from novice chases into a handicap for a trainer who is red hot with his runners in Britain. In a raced dominated by mares she can prove the pick, and open her account.

Race 5 No6 CALL OF THE LOON (Each Way)
Trainer: Christian Williams – Jockey: Nick Schofield

Williams seems hell-bent on capturing this long distance handicap chase with his twin attack, but though Prince Cleni heads the market it may prove smart to row in with veteran CALL OF THE LOON. The twelve-year-old has shown improved form in three races since joining his handler, carding a clear cut success at Stratford and seconds at Fontwell and Plumpton. At the respective prices he makes greater appeal.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 2 No3 ITS MARVELLOUS (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

ITS MARVELLOUS looked like a filly that had done well for her winter break when chasing home Lmay at Newbury. She appeared to relish a big step up in trip, and has worked well on Polytrack at home to suggest the switch to sand will not be a problem.

NEWBURY

Race 1 No2 PENGUIN ISLAND (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Laura Coughlan

PENGUIN ISLAND just gets the nod over Bluebell Time in the opening apprentice handicap. While it’s worrying that the selection is a ten race maiden, she frequently brings home a cheque and can now click with her pilot on her back for the first time. Bluebell Time was dropped 2lb following an effort last time that is better than it looked, and is worth a saver.

Race 3 No3 BOYFRIEND (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Pat Dobbs

Twilight Son colt BOYFRIEND gave the smart Brave Empire plenty to think about when a 20-1 shot on debut at Windsor. Granted normal progression from that eye taking effort he should make no mistake, and rates the best bet on this interesting card.

Race 4 No2 BAHEER
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Pat Dobbs

A tall home reputation accompanied BAHEER to this course for his debut. All looked to be going well for him until 150-1 roughie Zoulu Chief found another gear from the front and never came back. The Mehmas gelding has continued to show enthusiasm in his work at home, and in spite of a good message for newcomer Mitwaa should open his account.

Race 7 No9 GRAHAM
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Dane O’Neill

GRAHAM will hopefully prove a bet worth waiting for getting weight from each of his opponents. He deservedly put one on the board in a three-runner affair at Salisbury, and buoyed by that success has a good chance to follow-up.
