KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No2 DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: David Bass

DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE attracted plenty of support when beaten over three miles at Southwell when his tendency to race freely probably cost him victory. Eased back in trip by his in-form handler, and with first-time cheek pieces added, he should bounce back as the best bet on the card.

Race 4 No7 THELASTHIGHKING
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Jordan Nailor

Don’t let his near 200-day absence deter you from backing THELASTHIGHKING in this two-and-a-quarter-mile handicap chase. The chestnut has done plenty of work and is ready for a fifth outing over fences. He rounded off last season with convincing successes at Wincanton and Southwell after benefitting from surgery to correct a breathing problem. Nailor was in the hot seat for those victories and the combination can continue from where they left off.

Race 6 No5 ISLAND RUN (Each Way)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Mickael Nolan

ISLAND RUN can make it third time lucky following narrow defeats on his only two previous visits to this course. He travelled well when ridden cold over an extended two and a half miles in May only to find Young Butler too strong. He can welcome back to his saddle Nolan, who was the last jockey to win on him at Wincanton back in March, and should be suited by today’s longer trip as his attention is turned to fences.

SEDGEFIELD

Race 4 No8 LANGTON WOLD
Trainer: Brian Ellison – Jockey: Henry Brooke

LANGTON WOLD was a big eye-catcher when narrowly failing to reel in the more experienced It’s A Love Thing over this course and distance earlier in the month. It was a very encouraging first offering from the one-time Flat winner, who promises to make up into a better operator now switched to jumps.

Race 7 No2 BRECHIN CASTLE (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Brookhouse – Jockey: Miss Alice Stevens

BRECHIN CASTLE was the well-backed winner of his only run in a point and is closely related to the smart bumper winner Wynn House. He has joined a trainer who has made a cracking start to his career with a licence and can deliver on this first run under Rules at the main expense of Lambourn journeyman Cairo King.
